Re: Porter's future

Porter is a great company to work for. As stated above if you got nothing else, go for it. Great professional regional flying with a great aircraft. well said....Porter's basically on Jazz's payscale without the extensive benefits etc which should make us #2 on the total compensation. As for the fu...

Cometer...I hope your resume and cover letter will have better spelling and grammar than in your posts or the only way you'll be in a Porter Q400 is if you buy a ticket.

Good luck!

Re: Porter bases

YHZ and YOW are relatively easy to get into as a FO since upgrades are currently very very slow.

Movement will pickup when surplus Q400's get pushed out of YTZ as C's arrive.

Re: YTZ Pilots Association goes after Toronto Port Authority

I don't care whose fault it is that none of the approaches are suited to a C172, just don't bullshit me that I should be paying for them. Snow-clearing equipment? Just how many C172 departures were snow-delayed during the period 1980-2006 before Porter came along? Where is this much-vaunted paving ...

Re: YTZ Pilots Association goes after Toronto Port Authority

Transcapital as some hangars? Have you seen the ramp? Last time I was in there I was really worried about FOD. I would love to do the restricted approaches at CYTZ but they are Restricted. The only upgrade I have seen over the last 5 years was new gates and terminal for Porter, nothing for GA. Give...

Re: YTZ Pilots Association goes after Toronto Port Authority

Porter has spent millions fixing up the airport and they should expect a return. None of the "millions" they spent fixing up the airport has benefited GA in the slightest. What exactly are we getting in return for this "return" that Porter should be entitled to expect? Simply put...had Porter not r...

...not to mention the amount of fuel burned by 3 q400's waiting for takeoff, 1 with a tight flow time into Newark, while a c150 is doing touch and go's. What's the profit margin on that 80 litres of avgas that the Porter FBO pumped into that c150, while a ThunderBay flight was waiting for a 5000 lb ...

Heard rumour that they were tossing the 2 year ball and chain for their next round of hiring in the new year. Any truth to this, or just wishful thinking? All training bonds/agreements have been eliminated and 10 new hires currently in lineindoc, 10 more starting end of Nov, interviews this month a...

Yes...it is too bad....apparently AC cancelled it because of the various lawsuits etc going on. Of course they've been going on for the past 3 years etc and AC just realized it now...or perhaps the fact that Porter wasn't charging AC and Jazz pilots for the ride, or the beer and wine either, and did...

Re: Porter still hiring?

To you guys applying to Porter: 1) It is a great company to work for. Still has a million creases to iron out, but the people and environment are phenomenal. 2) There will be 2 more planes introduced next year (for a total of 20 Q400). The hiring for those is going on and ground school will probabl...

Well, I guess those empty flights I use to do for the last year or so out of YTZ were just an illusion. Sitting around for hours between flights was also an illusion. Why would AO want to divert customers to YYZ instead of trying to rebuild the service when the Island was so popular and had establi...

How right you are! ..and a little airline called Porter is a 4 Star airline...not quite big enough..yet..to get the NA title.

Re: Hey there public...welcome to our dirty little secret

An airline operation with the unique challenges of operating out of the Island should pay accordingly. What are the challenges of operating out of the island? Landing a 58000lb aircraft on a 4000' east-west strip in a crosswind during the winter off a 4.8degree ILS....or perhaps doing an RNAV appro...
