K K is right. Some maintenance, stores and sales between the bases. As for pilots, as said, there is barely enough crew around to cover the trips as is. The board is full; when not in maintenance, the fleet is utilized about 85% (IMHO), which is pretty doggone good. RedB - well, I would not be so ar...

I think a recap of the last week of NCA is in order. Far too many rumours by Avcanada "experten" being perpetuated. (if you don't hear a rumour by 10AM... start one!). The company appears to be doing fine. Flying is down, but there is no layoffs to pilots yet, and I doubt there will be (of course, a...

hpw3- Some advice for you young'uns who so eloquently place those ever-popular "I'm low time, but think I can afford to be choosy by slamming one company over another" quotes here... Until you can afford to be an old crusty fart like myself, best to keep mum, m'boy. I happen to be close friends with...

flyby - seriously now - you need to: - Write your own Operations Manual up using CARS 702 and CASS 722 as your guideline... ( not to mention all the other applicable CARS sections, 400's, 600's, 700's, etc.) -Write up or buy a Maintenance Manual, and have a Maintenace Scedule Approval in place for y...

.25 - A lot of what you ask has been recently covered in previous and recent forums. I have, in effect, asked what you have. I do suggest to use a bit of tact when asking. We westerners run the risk on this forum of sounding snobbish or arrogant if we are looking to go to Jazz, then look to bid out ...

Older Returning Pilot- if you could, I would appreciate if you could PM me. What is Fort Mcmurray like to live in? How far is the Airport from town? If you have to ask, you can't afford to live there... Seriously, it is the most expensive place to live in all of Canada. The quotes you've hear...

Bede: You can still commute on reserve. Find a flop house. At Jazz, you're only on reserve 18 days/mo., so it is doable. Thanks, that is interesting considering I read this from a Nov. 14 post just now... I was talking to the Asst. CP for YYZ today about this issue. As of current, you CANNOT commute...

I'll not comment on whether a renter can claim charges. If so, then be sure they pay you in $20's $100 bills can be tracked...) As for reimbursement if you are the owner, however, then you can claim more than just fuel and oil. All direct operating costs, such as overhaul layaway, tires, etc. can be...

Machtrim - Your command of written English is exemplory; as for the training process, thanks, I get it figured out now. Seems that reserve is not condusive to commuting, obviously. When the time comes to be able to bid a block, then commuting seems to be an option. As for openings, I figured about t...

Flyer: As Neil Armstrong once said, " I reserve my right to be wishy-washy". Good advice, that's rather what I had in mind. I was not aware that line indoc was considered training and thus covered for travel. For a schleb like me, the whole process is exciting, regardless of the outcome and my final...

BCflyer and Bede - Thanks, those were the kind of answers I am looking for, helpful. YYC is best, but YVR would be a nice basing, and closer to the "special treatments". However, I have no illusions regarding bases - "ya pays yer money, ya takes yer chances". I like to work with objective probablili...

My 2 cents... Your wife and family will ultimately make you happier than any flying job (Happy wife, happy life. Husband bad, wife is sad...) But if you can keep your bad flying habbit and your wife, then you have found the secret to life... please share it with the rest of us! Now is NOT a g...
