Re: Employee ZED Travel

So I know AC's got a long list of agreements with other airlines for ZED travel. But what's WJ's list like? I've heard that they don't have as many agreements with other major airlines like AC does. I just took a quick look at the ZED travel airline list, counted 101 different carriers. I don’t kno...

Re: Westjet Mainline FO ad.

I just realized the confusion. ALPA pilots coming to WJ from Encore are not choosing seniority numbers because within that class only, they get awarded the highest seniority number for that DOH. I assume they are keeping their Encore relative seniority order. Nope, that is not what's going on. That...

Re: Westjet Mainline FO ad.

You could be right, but that would be in contravention of the CBA (draft): Oh I'm very well aware of the wording in the CBA for a lot of things, and there is a lot to go through on all topics. The question posed earlier in the thread was if OTS would be behind flow pilots (including Swoop as well) ...

Re: Westjet Mainline FO ad.

Just an FYI, the one list is not in place as we speak. New hire pilots, regardless of where they come from, go to the bottom of the list. That could change, but I suspect not without a lot of screeching from various sectors. Of note, pilots hired OTS (not from Encore) from 2013 onwards, have until ...

You attitude continues to surprise me. I don't understand where such attitude come from, but you need to change and get up to speed with where Crm is at right now. Andy you are confusing CRM and Command authority. If I have thee opportunity to fill that seat with something more useful then dead wei...

No union. 55% said no (unofficial as of yet). Thankfully sanity has prevailed!

Re: Encore - Not Worth It

The time spent at Encore counts towards the upgrade to the left seat at WJ. That's why getting one list was such a big deal.

You're predicting upgrade times at WJ to be potentially up to 20 years?

Re: Encore 2015

I'm not disagreeing with you either, I know there are still some out there (such as yourself) with inefficient schedules. This is not beneficial to anyone and costs the company a lot of money. There has been no indication from management that they would reduce the monthly guarantee yet. Just because...

Re: Encore 2015

SundayDriver and lostaviator, both of those numbers are pretty far from our current averages. The actual average scheduled credit hours for the last few months has been between about 69-77. So we're not that far from the target. But I doubt they will touch the minimum credit guarantee until we are ...

Re: Encore 2015

Thanks Lostaviator for Encore info. Sorry to everyone else for starting a debate about commuting, haha. I was just more interested in finding out if you guys are still at the 20 days per month, and still flying some of those productive 1.5 hour airtime days. I don't think you really got an answer t...

Re: WestJet Mainline/Encore Hiring pool

The waiting lounge at Customs and the Unemployment office doesn't constitute a pool I wouldn't call Jazz the Unemployment Office (yet). And I don't think we've hired anybody from outside of Canada yet, though we've hired some Canadians from foreign carriers - but not a lot. Maybe a few percent of w...

Re: A330 ????

This was brought up in the recent Encore town hall meetings. Confirmed by Gregg. If you operated 100 airplanes by one manufacturer, and were looking at bigger machines, it would be hard to argue agains a common type rating and only differences training and a smaller (shared) parts department. You'd...

Re: Encore Hiring

jetsetfly, WJ/Encore pilots and FA'S can and do frequently jumpseat on the other carrier. It's in the GR for reference. However other Encore employees (csa, tac etc) cannot use the Boeing jumpseat, and vice versa.

Just curious...if you are an Encore pilot....what is different than what was promised on the interview? The story you are giving is much different than the one I'm hearing from the vast majority of Encore pilots I'm talking to. WJ200, I can guarantee one thing for sure, unless you are asking close ...

Re: BOND QUESTION

I just read through my bond agreement out of curiosity, and it does indeed state that if you take maternity leave or other leave for personal health problems your bond period will be extended for an equal amount of time. In the case from the OP I guess it completely depends on the wording of the bon...
