Re: Sim Evaluation
I don’t want the cap eliminated either. I agree with Hangry, no one should work more than 16 just so senior guys can work less. Get rid of the optimizer, sure, then it’s the company’s problem to either fix the pairings, reduce the flying, or hire more guys. Or some mix of the 3.

Re: Has Air Canada Suspended All Upcoming Ground School Sessions?
It's just natural for some who are already here to want to make it seem better than it really is. Gotta try and fix the cognitive dissonance... Just like how many commuters say "it's really not that bad"..... we all know it sucks!

Ponzi scheme? I guess you could say that about any seniority based industry then where you work your way up. Many new guys just can't get over the first few years... like mentioned previously. You need to look big picture. Would you rather rip off the band aid now, or in 10 years? All depends...

Re: Are Air Canada pilots the only pilots to not get a premium to work on holiday?
But isn't Air Canada like the only airline on the planet with just short call reserve? Most everything is pre-assigned days in a advance. If they short call you, just book off. Don't you get into trouble booking off exactly when you are getting called 3.5hrs right before departure (or 1hr after bec...

WJ also has GDOs on a block which makes a huge difference. So even in a vacation month, you still have 12 guaranteed days off in addition. Not so at AC where there is a formula (that I'll never memorize) that reduces your days worked instead.

It's not that hard to infer... Because that would probably be bargaining in bad faith. Obviously if the MEC came right out and said they were forced to release this, everyone would assume it automatically stinks.

I'm not defending the deal, but I am defending the NC & MEC. They aren't your enemy, nor the problem here. I disagree. Why are you defending them when all the evidence points to them selling us out? This narrative that there was some X-files like government conspiracy by the labour minister behind ...

I don't think there was any Master or Strategic plan here from the MEC. Likely there was government pressure, maybe an ultimatum, and the MEC was forced to put this out to the group for a vote. I'm not sure why the secrecy on that, and they can't say 'don't vote for this', but the silence speaks vol...

I don't think anyone is seriously saying it's not a shitty wage... but the histrionics of "oh I can only eat kraft dinner and hotdogs"! ....is perhaps a bit rich for someone experiencing actual poverty. Re: New Hire Sims?
I think both things can be true, it's not mutually exclusive. It's a pay and experience issue. Yes, AC is not getting the candidates it should because they don't want to pay. But since they are only getting 2000hr candidates now, they have to deal with the possible 'shallower experience' levels as s...

Yes 'Flat pay' is not so much the issue, its just the rate that's the problem. It's just an MMG which is much simpler and spread evenly throughout the year, like almost every other airline I believe...
Do the US airlines use an MMG type system? Or do they use convoluted formulae as well...

As mentioned before, don’t forget the quality of life and contract fixes that are so important. AC is so far behind in this regard I believe it’s at least as important or even more so than pay (except for flat pay).

AC is setting up the messaging for bringing in a massive amount of foreign pilots. Just wait for the mBA terms such as “operational sustainability” to hit the government and then the pressure will mount that the Canadian public will absolutely support. Which experienced foreign pilots would want to...

Many people will put in their bid, to automatically be placed at say, 75% of the list. (Or whatever) So they are just delaying until they can hold a better sched. In the meantime, those willing to be at the bottom are free to take it. However, higher seniority numbers will be parachuting in above yo...

The solution is simple. Stop accepting the current AC offer. As long as AC fills up every single GS with hundreds of pilots on flat pay then how much leverage do you really have ? But because muh seniority number and muh pension and muh career progression, we have pilots crawling naked over broken ...
