Re: EXPECTED NUMBER OF RETIREES AT AC.
100-150 per year for next 10 years. I counted 1500 total in next 10 years. Gen xers, and there are a lot, start going around 2034. All airlines will be hurting. Be patient everyone, you will all be where you want to be. Watch your spending, do not get divorced, you will be fine. Until the merger, th...

Re: 777 Funded Flair Using Insurance Customers' Deposits
The Founder of Porter was bought out by AC when they bought Air Ontario from him.
All of these companies are waiting for some sort of buyout from the big two when they become too much of a thorn in their side.
I really do not know where all the pilots will come from?

Re: Air Canada vs WestJet
You are coming from the military so you will understand this. The defining quality of a leader is to seek and accept responsibility , as a Captain. Stuck in the right seat for 10 years would be awful, no matter what “ lifestyle” you choose. AC is the way to go. Air Canada is hiring 1000 more pilots ...

Re: A Happy Right Seater
In my opinion , it takes years to know what one is doing in the airline business. They are hiring many career First Officers who have probably never been a Captain on anything other than a training aircraft. In Canada, there are many companies that provide valuable experience to scare the sh$t of yo...

Year 2 narrow body First Officer at Delta makes what a Year 12 Narrow Body Captain makes at Canada’s largest airline. The also have
superior work rules.
Keep it up. We are all counting on you.

Re: A 10 year WJ FO just went to AC
Lol, well said. The government will do what they can to block any movement to the US. American pilots are making DOUBLE of what we are making! The airline industry changes every 10 years. The regional model seems to be dying. AC just bought another 15 A220s, in my opinion to cover regional flying wit...

Re: A 10 year WJ FO just went to AC
The main advantage of coming to AC is the demographics of the pilot group. At least 100 retirements a year . In my opinion, there is going to be a huge amount of retirements in 10 years from now. Another advantage is the diversity of the fleet. There are so many different flying jobs that cater to d...

My wife and I were laughing that , “Sally Seagull ,” is a native of Toronto, always wanted to fly since her mother pushed her out of a tree , her hobbies include scavenging for garbage and annoying tourists.......! Btw ,a little bird told me that the Snowbirds wanted to watch the Red Arrows perform ...

Re: Sault Aviatoin, is it as bad as many have posted..
The lack of flight instructors is affecting the future of Canadian Aviation.
One cannot blame them for wanting to move on.
A solution needs to be found.

Re: New hire bids
AC is retiring 100 pilots a year for many years . There are new duty regs that require more pilots. Air Transat has many mature pilots as well. Be patient and like previous poster, enjoy where you are at. It will happen, just keeping focusing on the current flight you are doing and do not be a knob....

Good point . Left 703 Captain job in 2000 ( which has never laid off in over 50 years) to an Air Canada regional, which became Jazz , 2001 ish. Got laid off 2003, after fallout of 911. All of the pilots that were not quite ready to leave to next level at 703 company ,who were our FOs,all kept their ...

Re: Hanging your hat at Jazz?
Demographics at AC would be the best reason. A lot of retirements. Many New aircraft coming to AC. I have worked at a tier 3 turboprop operator,Jazz and a defunct low cost operator ,prior to AC. AC has numerous opportunities in training, management, union involvement etc., which give satisfaction ou...

Thanks for the info everyone. The Max has been fun. Small flight deck, have already banged my head and my knee. We are interested in all the 737 gotchas that you have experienced in last many years. This airplane needs to be respected in my opinion. We have not had an airplane in awhile that one has...

Re: Dangerous Flights Season 2
I have watched all of these shows. The pilots portrayed in the reality series remind me of those clowns who do not make it out of entry level companies. The real pros are the quiet pilots that do their jobs, and you never really hear about them, because they make few mistakes because of their discip...

Re: Why WJ Pilots lost all my respect
I would not call them stupid, just a bit naive. They saw the good times at Westjet by great leaders who had integrity. The company has now been inviltrated by corporate sharks that hoard profits for management. The pilots of Westjet have had a generous run and has not gone unnoticed by Greg and the ...

Re: A Boeing 777 Has Crash-Landed At San Francisco Internati
I agree with all previous posts, however almost every time we land on the 28 s in KSFO, they leave you high on downwind because of terrain and traffic and then try and make you take the visual, when they turn you to base. Having a u/s glideslope does not help at all. They will call pilot error, make...

Yes, friends, as the singer said, “the times they are a changin’...” We have entered an era of Pay-For-Training/Pay-For-A-Job. But, I don’t mean the PFT where a pilot pays for his/her airline ground school and flight training. I mean the PFT practiced by US aviation universities. That’s right, our o...
