Re: T/O or Landing during Solar Eclipse
It's a gradual drop and return. Not sudden. Depending where you are the totality path, it will take 2-3 hours to drop to 0, 2-3 minutes of totality, and 2-3 hours to return. But you'll barely notice the first and last hour or so.

Re: WestJet Sunwing merger and seniority
Sunwing pilots are not "damsels in distress". Look at the filings from the TUI group, under "Canadian operations". The Sunwing Travel Group was very much solvent. This is a case of two companies exchanging one asset in return for a preferential access to another asset. One gets a large cash influx t...

Someone in my company said they applied 6 months in advance for the booklet, but that TC is so far behind that your application is classified based on your date that your current ADB expires, and they don't start the processing until 90 days prior. Info that he got from TC and shared with us.

Re: Take-off Configuration after Type 4
Stupid question: Some checks, such as Trims are done before pushback, knowing that we would have to de-ice and no flight control checks are to be done until after de-ice procedure. Why do we do trim checks (rudder, roll and pitch) before we de-ice? For the 737, Boeing certified the 757 and 767 to s...

1200TT gets you a 705 job now in a regional feeder. (US equivalent Part 121) But, honestly, if you can work in the US, the prospects are MUCH better. If the US and Canadian economies are on the precipice, it'll hurt less in the US because their shortage is greater Thanks for replying. Unfortunately...

Re: Take-off Configuration after Type 4
In YUL yesterday morning, an AT A330 going to unknown destination extended the flaps between type 1 and type 4... They had to ensure all the AEROMAG trucks stopped spraying and moved away from the wings before they extended their flaps and continued with type 4 application. Weather was 1SM RVR 5000 ...

At WG we are trained on the automatic MAYDAY to make everyone on the frequency shut up and pay attention, also because we fly to destinations with chances of questionable ICAO level 4 English. It is a safety tool in an emergency. When in doubt, use it, then cancel or downgrade. You're writing a repo...

Real estate prices are set on the margins. Those that sell high raise prices, those that sell low lower prices. The moment people realize the knives are falling and they don't want to try catching them, those who are forced to sell will bring down the valuation for everybody else. You only need ONE ...

Considering StatsCan says our economy hasn't grown since May... It's happening right now. The normalization of rates is undergoing. I wouldn't expect them to raise rates anymore, but I wouldn't expect them to drop them either. Thinking the rates will stay in the 5-7 range for at least the next 5 yea...

Yeah, Canada had no real choice. Lag the US by too much, and the dollar would get creamed, making inflation horrendous.
Politically, well, at least now it's just home owners that are suffering. YES, I KNOW that this is extremely flawed logic, but hey, we live in the Socialist Confederation of Canada

Not surprised. A like most reiterate, until the major put a pause on hiring or growth - I wouldn't sound the general alarm just yet. Federal is still raising rates at this point...BoC has stopped for now. So that means our dollar is going to take a hit. How will that be for travel and operating cos...

FYI for all looking into going to the US. If you go there on a worker's visa, and thus get a green card, may I advise to NEVER become a US citizen. It is a guaranteed mountain of paperwork for the rest of your life, whereas a green card holder has all the benefits for none of the restrictions (minu...

People have to be ready for it. Be ready for the value of your house dropping so much, you would take such a haircut selling that you will have to do everything you can to NOT MOVE, thus not realizing these losses. If you can make payments at the new rates, consider yourself lucky. And, in our indus...
