Re: Tail Dragger vs Nose Dragger - Windy Days
What other issues arise with ground handling on a tail dragger on windy days? I have twice witnessed a taildragger need external help to turn while taxiing on windy days…..too much wind force on the tail(I suppose the fuselage too)to be able to turn crosswind. They were a Tiger Moth and a Cessna 18...

Tail Dragger vs Nose Dragger - Windy Days
Just trying to fully understand any limitations of a tail dragger vs a nose dragger on windy days. More than occasionally I fly my Mooney on fairly strong windy days (last memorable day was 38 knots gusting 45 knots). Wind was right down the runway as usual so takeoffs / landings are fine. Mooneys s...

Re: Is this The End of the Pilot Career
I remember back to that DC-10 accident in Sioux City Iowa where the pilots managed to get the thing on the ground and save a bunch of lives. You pull the pilots out of the cockpit and you’ve got no “out of the box” thinking or last ditch attempt to solve a serious problem. Not sure some pop tart mun...

ADS-B equipment
Watching traffic on Flightradar24 I see quite a few light aircraft are now equipped with ADS-B out. Seems like many of the flight schools have all their training aircraft equipped (out here in Alberta anyways) as well as privately registered machines. Just curious - what equipment Is being installed...

Re: SeaTac stolen plane
I guess I wasted a lot of time and money on all that flight training stuff - apparently playing video games is all you need to do to hop into a commuter class turbine twin, takeoff, fly around and barrel roll it successfully. How did this guy even figure out how to get this thing fired up?

Re: Harrison Ford Mistakes Taxiway for Runway
I guess nobody on here has ever lined up on a taxiway a couple miles out on final but caught it early and corrected it? I've had flight instructors do it with me and I've done it once too. I seem to recall airline pilots landing at wrong airports too - maybe they should hang up their wings and call ...

Re: Marcus Paine crashes in Oregon Airshow
Met him / helped him last year while working the hot ramp at the ybw airshow - nicest guy you'd ever want to meet - friendly, courteous, great sense of humor - instantly likable. So sad to hear about this yesterday - my deepest condolences to his family and friends - such a loss.

Re: Springbank Airport Noise Committee Needs Your Help
Lois seems to be a bit of a complainer. I'll send an email to the noise complaint email address complaining about people who choose to live next to an airport then complain about it... I wonder if I can pull the muffler off the Mooney then make some low passes over her house... Playground zones a pu...

Re: Does anyone understand this Notam information
interesting - on first glance I'd assume the Notam July 19-21 2200-0600 would end on July 21 at 0600 - not July 22 at 0600 - I guess that's where the confusion is...

Re: Beechcraft on the market again already . . .
Hello Mooney Followers, It is time for all of you to take a deep breath and listen to what I have to say about Mooney International, now that I am allowed to speak. We have been working for months with Dr. Jerry Chen, President of Soaring America on a deal to provide funding to restart production of...

Mooney is getting new funding from Soaring America Corporation, a California based Company - not a Chinese company.

Re: South Calgary Crash
Stupid question:
if he refueled it and managed to make a successful takeoff and got it back onto the runway and tied down - would anyone be the wiser?
Would it be a reportable incident (in theory no damage, no injuries)?
How many times does this happen in a year and nobody knows about it?

Re: New notam website for Canadian pilots
It would be awesome if you could show areas notam'd for forest fires, military exercises etc. Just a shaded or outlined area on the google map using the coordinates listed in the notam. Maybe show restricted altitudes within the shaded areas.
Great job, keep it going!

FAA PMA parts in Canadian Registered Certified Aircraft
Scenario: A U.S. company has a Parts Manufacturing Authority to design and produce a replacement part, and they have an eligibility chart (with a list of eligible certified aircraft) showing that said part is an FAA approved replacement for an old, out of production part from a different manufacture...

Re: What airplane do you buy with $20-$30K?
Whatever you decide to buy, PLEASE remember to investigate parts availability and factory support - it's this stuff that can make your ownership experience fun and satisfying or a real pain in the backside. You don't want to be waiting forever for parts or emails / phone calls to the factory that go...
