Re: 10 dead in Beech crash in Malaysia
In the slow motion of the rear dashcam there appears to be flame and smoke trailing the aircrafts right engine seconds before impact.

Re: piper pa32 crashed last night near kananaskis village
To put some perspective on the location of this accident I found two pictures taken from the peak of the mountain where they crashed. This is not the accident site as far as I know. The first picture is of the entrance into the mountains and is looking north-east and shows how the terrain literally ...

Scenario. Gps direct track with terrain data nite , closing in , weather poor , decending to remain vfr. , mountain ahead out of time options tragic result. Modern gnss great tool. But. Reliance on it comes with own set of gottchas I'm sorry- I don't agree with your scenario. I wasn't there but I d...

Re: piper pa32 crashed last night near kananaskis village
I live 26 nm to the east of the Kananaskis Village in the Jumping Pound area. About 8 nm to the SW of YBW. I was outside last evening with my dogs and I recall the weather was light rain with low cloud. I have a camera on my roof pointed west-southwest. I just checked my cam footage for 2100 hrs las...

Re: Where's Joyce?
I was very involved with the Calgary Flying Club during that period. I knew Karen Kronlund and Joyce Head. I have no idea where Karen is now and I bumped into Joyce Head in a drugstore in NW Calgary a few years back. I don't recall any other Joyce's but people flowed through the Club fairly quick an...

Re: Witnessing an Accident
In August of 1978 I was working on the ramp at the Calgary Flying Club in Springbank. I was up on a ladder fueling a C-172 when I noticed a yellow and white Apache landing on the then runway 34. I noticed immediately his landing gear was only half extended and I watched the aircraft flying 50ft off ...

Re: VIDEO: Cessna 421 STALLS and Crash Lands after Dual Engine Failure JAN 2021, Long Island NY
Damn, didn't even try to fly that plane. I was expecting to see it glide to earth...not fall like a rock. Apparently he was getting his hair done the day they taught engine(s) out landing. Dead stick is not really his forte! This is simply an observation from the video. To me it appears there is a ...

Re: Remember Tenerife
A slightly different but similar situation occurred to me many years ago at YEG flying a C-177. I was cleared to runway 19(now 20) from the ramp via Taxi Bravo to the reverse exit Bravo One for a midfield departure. In those days we did our run-ups on the taxiway holding short of the main runway. I ...

Thank you for the idea's so far. Madd Doggy I have left a message with the Elliot Lake APM. rookiepilot - My understanding is a family friend has already contacted most of the local Ontario museums. Re: Looking For A Good Home For A Large Model Collection
If you have any contacts there, please let them know about it. Several museums in Ontario have already been contacted and declined or failed to even respond back. Museums have only so much display space and resources to maintain collections, so they tend to be very picky regarding subject matter.

Looking For A Good Home For A Large Model Collection
This is a very different request I am putting out here. Through my work I was asked to help a friend of my boss. His friend is a 93 year widow who's husband was a passionate model builder before recently passing away. I spoke with this lady last week and offered my assistance through this community....

Re: Airplane Models
I have been collecting aircraft models for many years and my best advice is to not use any one specific site to purchase your models from. I would recommend you have a focus in your collecting before rushing out and buying everything which catches your eye at the time. Many collectors have shelves o...

Re: Remembering the Wardair B707
First - the Korean B707 HL7429 - 2 passengers were killed - there where 109 on board 12 crew and 97 passengers. As for Wardair - my favorite was the B727 CF-FUN However the two Wardair B707's CF-FAN and CF-ZYP Good news - your information about ZYP's early demise/scrapped is incorrect, her current ...
