Looking for a Freelance Instructor located near YCD
My son is needing to complete his PPL and wants to do his Night and Commercial Pilots License on our co-owned PA24-180. Does anyone know of someone who does freelance training and holds a Class 1 or Class 2 Instructor Rating? Ideally someone who doesn’t mind doing training from YCD. My son is living...

Re: Sunwing interview
You guys make me laugh. Seriously?? Let me ask you this: Can you show me why I might enjoy flying a 12-14 hour duty day with you? Do I care if you can answer some stupid quiz and dazzle some HR person? Just because you have the basic minimums for hire makes you somehow entitled to work here? Now if ...

Re: Is anyone seeing pay increases?
All FOs whether Cadet or otherwise are paid in accordance with the CBA#3. The hourly rate is multiplied by 1000 hours per annum guaranteed minimum. There is not a separate pay scale for a Cadet. They are all paid the same. Period. The diffence between Canada and most of the rest of the world is that...

Re: Is anyone seeing pay increases?
Well, unless Sunwing finds a way to hire kids before they get their pilot's licenses, I would say we've just about hit the bottom of what employers will be able to do to avoid giving pay rises. Strange comment. I think most of our new hire FOs are quite happy with their salary raises from last year...

Re: Sunwing and Foreign pilots again
There are no foreing pilots flying airplanes that are operated on the TS OC. So yes, fiction there is. This post reflects a common sentiment that has been repeatedly expressed by both Gilles and other pilots on this forum... foreign pilots operating in Canada under wet lease arrangements are okay b...

Re: When flying is your second career
Here here. Great post Pilot_wife. My son is RCMP and I have learned much about your profession since he became a member. He too is very keen on getting into aviation. Yes it is not easy...but I personally think it is worth it if that is ones desire. Anyway, I've enjoyed the read on this thread and I...

Re: 2016 Sunwing Interviews
Is it true that the Seneca cadets are required to pay for their B737 type endorsement by repaying $1000 per month for the first 24 months of their employment at SW? I cannot speak for anyone in the cadet program as I do not personally know any details on that subject. I can tell you that for anyone...

Re: 2013 and 2014 stats on Sunwing hiring pratices
Will there be any Contract Captains flying at Air Transat this winter? I don't know. They tried to hire some and I think it didn't work. But that's ok, as long as we don't then allow Foreign contact captains instead. That would be a very interesting turn of events if it did. Either way, would not T...

Re: 2013 and 2014 stats on Sunwing hiring pratices
Are there any Canadian Licenced pilots flying for Sunwing today who do not have an ATPL ? I highly doubt it. Another double standard from our friends at Sunwing. Canadians pilots need 3000 hours and an ATPL, even to fly as First Officers. Foreigners, however, are ok to come and fly for Sunwing with...

Re: TC acceptable Kijiji ad?
A cut and paste of the kijiji ad: I will be flying my Cessna 172 from Fort McMurray International to the Calgary Springbank airport. The Springbank Airport is 30 minutes from downtown Calgary. All I ask is that you share 50% of the cost of the flight. Cost will be $300.00 from fort McMurray to Sprin...

Re: No Commercial Single Engine Ops
"Chisel charter" refers to operating a non-commercially registered and maintained aircraft in a commerical manner. Doing so bypasses all the checks and balances in place that commerial operators have to abide by to ensure a standard of safety is maintained - along with the related expenses. Hence, ...

Re: Guard Police
I also hear a lot of annoying chatter on 121.5 in Western Europe... Idiots entertaining themselves with stupid noises... Sometimes the only operational option is to turn the radio volume down for a few minutes and let the none sense pass....which defeats the whole purpose of monitoring 121.5. Very a...
