Re: CARGO ATTENDANT TO F.O POSITION

This isn't typical of Air Canada.
Only places I have heard that might still work like that are remote bush operations. And these are for junior positions, not at a major airline flying big metal.

Re: AC must keep heavy-maintenance in Canada, QB court rule

Justice Newbould of Ontario's superior court ruled that AC was performing some overhaul tasks in its line maintenance division. Also: "The Court did make reference to some Parliamentary debates showing legislators’ concern with ensuring that jobs remain in the named cities, but only in support of it...

Re: When to change a tire

Every operator I have worked so far usually uses grooves as wear criteria when doing routine maintenance. The idea is that removing a tire when you are at 1/32 from groove base instead of actually waiting for rejection criteria point is usually more cost effective than incurring delays because someo...

Because there is always someone that is in need of a job, because they figure it is a small sacrifice for better conditions afterwards, because for some it is not only a job but a passion, because the are livin' the jet dream, because for everyone that takes a stand and says NO there is two others t...

Re: New letter to CIC against the use of Foreign National pi

You see Gilles, that is good argumentation. Stick to the big picture. I remember that I proposed you should hand out the petition to more than only pilots, and that you felt this was not appropriate. I can tell you that I personally supported this initiative, even though I am not a pilot. I feel tha...

Re: AIR TRANSAT FALL LAYOFF here we are...

I think that the issue that Gilles brings to the table is commendable in theory. I do have issues with the arguments he puts up to support it though: it is not for the greater good of the profession, it always come down to "Transat pilots are suffering from it". As somebody pointed out, Transat's is...

Re: Jazz Pilot Bid Out

Now, is the pay rate for the Q400s the same as the pay rate for the CRJs they're replacing? Because if it's not, the entire pilot group will see a pay change. I am pretty sure that anything 90 seats and under is paid the same group rate, the number used to do the pay scale. So answer should be no c...

Re: New Contract thread

I have my money on the 737, but it will be a single type, whatever they are. The 737 and 737MAX are fine aircrafts, but for AC it might lack the pallet-cargo feature, which is an important part of the business at AC from what I understand. It seems to be one factor skewing the economics in favour o...

Re: JAZZ SOC EXPANSION

ChallengerDan, those feeders would eventually buy each other out and the entity Jazz would just exsist under a different name. Re: JAZZ SOC EXPANSION

I don't see jazz getting any new flying. In hindsight, AC probaly wished at this time they would have taken possetion of the aircrafts and spread them over the four feeders it had back then. They would only have to put out RFP for any new flying and these feeders would lower the bar amongst themselv...

Re: Multiple endorsement premium

At Jazz it doesn't matter whether you have 1 or 5 endorsements. You get ACA scale. Where I worked before, you would get ACA premium on your first endorsement and then 0.50$ for every other up to a maximum of four.

I don't have supporting docs though, but the Jazz CBA is on the public domain.

This seems to be in contrast with the usual saying that WestJet treats their employees really well. Care to elaborate? Does Tech Ops really need a union or do a couple of lazy mechanics need a union? Not that I am against unions, far from it in fact, but this seems like trolling compared to what we ...
