MFC Vs local FTU

I'm debating whether or not it would be worth to move to NB leaving family and girlfriend to attend Moncton Flight College, I'm interested in their ATP(A) program, or if I should obtain my licenses + ratings at a local flight school. The cost of training will be pretty much the same whether i stay i...

Hey thanks for the info!

It's too much hassle buying a plane right now, and I don't have enough experience... I'll rent for my PPL. Maybe I'll reconsider for the CPL, if I find a motivated partner.

I'm in the same boat. I want to start in January, I'm in Montreal. I think I'll give it a shot, I'm planning to fly a lot.. 4/6 times a week, which is probably not gonna happen until the winter is over but I hope/guess i'll still be able to fly at least once or twice a week if the weather is really ...

La visite des écoles, c'est la meilleure chose à faire pour faire TON idée.
Bien sur Stick Shaker! Je vais passer par Air Richelieu aussi... peut etre le temps de faire un intro-flight!

How about owning a plane for training....

Some of you pointed out this route to reduce training expenses in the long run but... what's your opinion? How exactly would you go about buying a plane to start training? Can I even think about getting a plane right away or should i start the PPL through a FTU and then find somebody to share a cess...

You repeatedly worry about failing a medical... How about getting one right away? Couldn't agree more... that was my first step, which i passed last week... even before thinking about schools, licenses etc... if you are not sure about getting the medical how can you go about planning your whole car...

My first language being italian i must say English is the easiest language to learn... there's very few rules... french is tricky but for me wasn't as bad because of the similarity with italian. German is hard! Anyways since I already know 3 languages I'd rather focus on my training... there's alway...

I got this book last week... i ordered it from amazon because you mentioned about it in your book "so you want to be a pilot, eh?" which i read in almost one sitting. As a beginner "wanna be pilot" without much knowledge on the subject of flying i must say "from the flight deck" reads very well, the...

had a doctor tell me after the test that he'd tested for drugs (even though it wasn't required) and that i had tested negative
That sucks! I mean that he performed a drug test anyways... i wonder what would have happened if anyone tested positive since is not common procedure.

Before I make any decision I'll start by taking a few introductory flights... On my list there's Laurentide Aviation, ALM Par Avion, and Cargair... that way i'll get a feel for the FTU environment and possibly log a few hours toward a PPL. Any suggestion of a good FTU near montreal?

I think it works if you install Windows on your Mac, there were some reviews on the internet that said it worked but had a few bugs. I'd say you should investigate more. I tried X-plane on my Mac and it works great, it seems to me that the program is overall better than MSFS but i could be wrong. I ...

Very interesting... MS flight sim won't work with Mac. I'll consider to get a copy of X-plane seems like a very good program.

X-Plane (I have a Macintosh computer)/ Microsoft Flight Simulator

Are these computer "games" realistic enough to be helpful in flight training?
I suppose for instrument approaches?

In other words... i'm 24, already have 2 college diplomas one music (whatever) the other in mechanical engineering but no university degree. I've been many times in an aeroplane but never in the cockpit. My parents are willing to help a little with the costs but still we're not Rockefeller. Advice.....

Dude, we're kinda in the same boat, i'm 24 and planning to start training soon in 2008. I think I'm gonna opt for a FTU tho, even if it's more expensive, because i already have 2 college degrees in music and mechanical engineering and I also think my time to go to school is running low, by the time ...
