Re: Do som research before paying for a Helicopter Pilot's L
Well posted ALL SIDES. My take on the current situation in the industry is simple, those who want to work hard to succeed in the industry generally do. I could tell my story, but you have all heard it or similar ones before, living in a cardboard box, walking up hill to school, etc, etc. What I have...

Re: Another Crash - Near Golden BC
IF the Cormorant could have filed IFR across the Hills from YKA, an approach may have helped speed the operation up, as they have more "tricks" onboard ( ie hoist, DF gear, etc) than a commercial helicopter. I'm taking a wild guess that MEA's may be in the area of 13,000 for that crossing. They coul...

Re: Fatal Accident - Yoho National Park
Most sincere condolences to family and friends on this tragedy. Rescuers also noted there were animal footprints leading away from the crash site, which the RCMP believe are from the pilot's dog. I hope that they are able to find the Dog. There are a lot of Wolves in the Yoho Valley, not the place f...

Fatal Accident - Yoho National Park
Story developing, but it sounds like a single engine Cessna crashed this AM in Yoho.
1 on board, Possible fatal.
Banff Park Rescue crews on scene all afternoon. Sounded like a Buffalo overhead YGE at altitude, Cormorant landed at YGE late PM.

Quit yer belly-aching Bandaid, There were no delays at JFK, she was with me, Dinner out, a show, some drinks.....
Good luck with AC. I have a great story from their superior customer service also. I'd sooner book Greyhound on my next trip than endure another AC adventure.

Re: "No phone calls please!"
I can't believe how low this industry has become. It's not anything about that I don't want to have a phone call from each and every snot nosed pilot who does not remotely qualify for the job, it's that I'm NOT sitting in the office day after day waiting for their calls, I fly full time. I don't hav...

Alternatively, if you don't qualify for the job and still call I think you should be put on a black list  Great post IR, that's the most common issue that I experience. I have nothing BUT time if a 100 hr guy drops by when I'm at the hangar. Anyone here see a possible attitude problem in the ...

good thing I have an F/O to do all my preflight checks I don't fly with a F/O ( what ever that is? ) if that post was aimed at me? As brewguy says, I am hiring, and I set the rules, you don't like, DON'T APPLY. And "First Job" ??? No "first timers" fly anywhere near here. Any Ad's I send out specif...

Re: "No phone calls please!"
+2 to Cranium and Brewguy. I ALWAYS specify that Phone calls are not accepted. As a full line pilot as well as a manager, I do not need the distraction and interuptions of every prospective aviator, most who do not remotely meet the minimum requirements specified, to bother me during a busy day. I c...

Unfortunately, Dr Danforth is no longer there to look after the best interests of Pacific area Pilots. He has moved on, not exactly sure where? I have only had good dealings with him, but am now testing his replacements good nature. We'll see if the replacement has Dr Danforths attitude or not very ...

Re: Best Route from Calgary to Vancouver?
This thread makes me sick. Agreed ! People, People, You're making a Mountain out of a Mole hill here.... It's NOT rocket science. You don't NEED to fly on an airway, direct at altitude. Remember to back when you had 50 hours, Use that Pilot magic you learned and just follow the roads and valleys. (...

After an unusually hard landing when arriving at YVR...The Flight Attendant announced..
"For those of you not paying attention...we HAVE landed at Vancouver......"
She sure broke the tension and got a good round of laughter from the SLF.

Re: Plane crashes on squamish Glacier (again)
Didn't the artist (sorry, name escapes me right now) that piled his Bucaneer into the Fraser a few years ago also have a wreck up on the Glacier? This is the worst time of year for crevasses: Snowpack starts to thin out, and the crevasses that you can't see also can't support your weight. Toni Onle...

Zestoritic 20/12.5 ( or the generic Listinopril 20/12.5) one a day, about 4 years, no issues. Brought the BP down from about 160/120 to under normal now ( 110/70). Also good to get out and do some evening walks, plus try to manage daily stress. I also bought a home- BP cuff, and kept a daily/hourly ...
