Re: Sunwing Adds a New Twist on Foreign Pilots
I can see that this must be frustrating, and maybe seen as unfair for out of work Canadians, but the company is just using the system to their advantage, to maximise profit. You can't blame them for that, that's why they are in business. There is nothing ethical about the way many aviation enterpris...

Is it possible that any pilot could be this dumb? The author of that remark, assuming that he or she is a pilot, should think seriously about changing mindset from " I would never do that " to " There but for the grace of God go I ". Along with the many, many other pilot error type mistakes, landing...

Re: Flair- 767
Interesting that this thread has largely turned away to a discussion about East vs West. Shows that people don't take that company and their BS seriously. Heard that they recently lost a wrongfull dismissal case brought against them by one of their captains. Tells you something about how they conduc...

Re: CBC The National: Report on SMS this Wednesday
Lack of flying skills is pretty relevant, there seems to be a serious decline. Over 75% of general aviation and over 50% of airline accidents due to pilot error. 9 airliners lost in the last 10 years due to the pilots losing control, over 900 people killed. And aviation attracts a lot of fruitcakes ...

Pilot Error is alive and well.
Latest figures show 75% of general aviation and over 50% of airline accidents due to pilot error.
In the last 9 years 10 airliner crashes and over 900 people killed due to pilots losing control of airliners.

If you have an instrument rating and can't figure it out without help I suggest you rip up your licence and tell TC that you are not qualified to fly at all, let alone IFR.

Vernon, BC
Called in at Vernon the other day and was pleased to find that there is a 172 there again now for training and charter etc by SportAir, the former Okanagan Aviation.
Rumours also of a brand new 172 coming in the Spring.
Good to see some competition again in the area.
