Re: Registering a US aircraft

Can't be done the U.S. Government would view that as fraud. A Canadian cannot own a U.S. aircraft through a false front such as a non citizen U.S. corp.

406 ELT Alternatives - GPS Tracking?

Is there an alternative to installing the 406 ELT in our light aircraft such as installing a GPS Tracking unit like the Guardian? This was alluded to in a recent COPA article - but the article did not elaborate or mention any specific tracking units that were acceptable. Any advice would be much app...

Re: GPS Tracking Info

One more question here for all those in the know. Now if one of the above mentioned systems are equipped in the aircraft ie Guardian, will that suffice instead of installing a new 406 ELT? I know it is wishful thinking but a recent COPA article alluded to this. Or if there is another tracking systen...

It is a bit pricey but it is plug-and-play as long as you have a 12V receptacle in the plane (we hard-wired ours).
Looking at the website now and it does look good - thank you for your suggestion iflyforpie

Re: GPS Tracking Info

My organisation is set up with a company called Skytrac, based in Kelowna, BC. http://www.skytrac.ca Thanks North Shore, I checked on the website and their solution is probably too robust for us, and pricey, and they don't seem to have an STC for C150s, what we are using. After the initial cost of ...

GPS Tracking Info

I'm looking for a solution to be able to track the location of small aircraft. I know of the SPOT device but the pilot has to "remember" to push and hold the OK/check button to start the tracking. If the pilot does remember to do this - the plane's location can be mapped in real time to google earth...

Re: OFF

Hi, At my school, we use the SPOT tracker, based on GPS localisation. More information available here : http://findmespot.ca/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=52 It works fine, and is used only for safety reasons during students' xcountries. hope it helps, Greg Thanks for your quick...

Re: OFF

If I were you, I'd stay away from OFF. Worst maintained aircraft I've ever seen, the owner tracks you with GPS in the planes (he can literally go online and see where you are and what you're doing at all time) and you'll get screwed with charges most of the time. A few friends instructed there part...

Re: Big mistake?

I wouldn't bother getting an AME licence hoping the airlines think you're more qualified - they mostly care for pic time, total time, type time etc. Don't waste your time unless you have a true love for wrenching.

Re: TC sending a credit agency after me?

IF you don't pay your yearly fee and you have a collection agency calling you - I don't think that the agency can harm your credit rating as someone mentioned on this thread. Correct me if I'm wrong but I really doubt it. Your credit rating is hurt if you don't pay your monthly credit card minimums ...

Re: W80 vs W100

I didn't realize this was such a hot topic when I posted it. Based on what I've gathered here and from elsewhere I plan to run mulitgrade 15W50 in the winter and was already running 100plus for summertime (15+C) and will continue to do so. Thanks to all for their information. PS who is the "Master"?

Re: W80 vs W100

Thanks for your respsonses Hedley and Flyforpie. I did some further research myself from the Shell Aviation website and it has W80 at (-17 to 21C) and W100 (15 to 30C). Just wondering Hedley why you suggest not using W80 at this time of year then? The 15W50 is advertised as the ultimate oil so why w...

if cost is an issue and you are not a really big person then go with the 150. if you would like a little extra leg/arm room and don't mind spending a bit more the 172 is for you.
