XC overnight accomodation?
Just curious, how do you guys spend your nights on long XC trips? Any tips/tricks?
Hotel accommodation can be quite an expense and is not always available.
My scenario would take me from days to a few weeks.

Re: YVR VFR Stream
That's bad news for me. I believe my application expires at the end of feb. I really hope I don't time out. At least I will be able to finish my diploma.. But nevertheless this sucks.

Re: YVR April 29th assesment.
Yeah I was hoping that I could get into the October course last year. My application expires early next year and I'm really hoping that I'll be able to make it. As far as phone inquiries go, its virtually impossible. Nav Can staff rarely disclose their plans so that you don't get your hopes up. I wi...

Re: YVR April 29th assesment.
I'm waiting for an in person interview. I did my assessment July 2013, phone interview August 2013, and I've been waiting ever since. My target is for the VFR stream. So far I know that there were two VFR courses last year, each in February and October. I am not expecting to hear about another VFR c...

Re: YVR April 29th assesment.
They usually update their website for upcoming events:
https://takecharge.navcanada.ca/en/cont ... ssessments
Its interesting that they're keeping this one under the radar.
Congrats on the invite though! I'm still waiting for an interview invite. Hopefully this is a sign of movement.

Re: Advice: What to do?
Actually there is a Citabria at the school I trained at. The cost is in between a 152 and 172 so it's not too bad. The idea is to do partial (~70) hours of cpl training on that. Seeing how my flying is beyond rusty right now, I'm planning 120TT dual and solo, including night rating. The bush float t...

Re: Advice: What to do?
In terms of job insecurity, it's everywhere. I know it and I accept the fact. I guess I didn't explain myself properly in my earlier post. I'm held back from taking the AME M course because of the working conditions and pay that I've been reading about. Note that I'm not saying its not the same for ...

Re: Advice: What to do?
But the question is, should I bother getting an AME? Or perhaps auto mechanics would be a better choice?

Advice: What to do?
Hello Avcanada, I'm in the middle of a crossroad situation. I can't find anyone to get advice from, so I'm hoping I can get help here. I've always wanted to be a pilot, all my life. I got my ppl back in 2009, thinking that while in college, I could keep current with flying, and gain experience for m...

Airport Operations as a career
I did some light digging. Wasn't able to find anything.
I'm looking at BCIT's Airport Operations program. Does anyone know the reality behind this part of the field? (in terms of employment opportunities, working conditions, etc)

Rant about a comment from a school owner
After recently moving to another part of the lower mainland, I just found out that the neighbor next door to me is actually the owner/operator of a small school in CZBB. As we were exchanging conversations, my neighbor said "aviation's always been in high demand, and is even so at present." After he...

Re: Airblue - boy falls from Airbus A320 landing gear on tak
He said the house where the body was found was one aerial mile from the airport. By that distance the plane would have ascended to nearly 20,000 feet, and humans could not survive at that altitude. Am I missing something here? Was it a Soyuz that he hung on too? Even though he touched down a mile a...

Re: Cathay Pacific screening/Interview Next week.
Forgive my lack of knowledge Doesn't CX do training in Australia? This cadet program is a poor path to walk down for any Canadian pilot... let me guess, you have a 1000 or so hours and a company with great big jets called you and now you have a hard on you can't get rid of and you can barely contain...

Does anyone know if Nav Canada has an age preference? I'm 19 years old and I just applied at their website. Like everyone else, I passed the easy tests. My assessment date still has a gray question mark on it. I'm wondering if I even have a chance to make it through What do you guys think? :smt100 F...
