Re: Day in the life of a citation XL
Sad to see an old float guy in the left seat of the jet. How times change.

It's sad when a crash in Nepal doesn't raise eyebrows. Something has to change there.

Re: Kenn Borek Antarctic Cause/Speculation Thread
The reports I saw said 13K for one report, 88K for the next report, and back to 13K for the next one after that. That is inaccurate, according to friend who has seen the actual Skytrac Data. There was no sudden drop to 8800'. There seems to be no climb or descent greater than 600fmp. In fact most c...

I'm just going to throw this out there, no disrespect to the crew. Could they have been doing some sight-seeing and at the last minute realized they were too close to Mount Elizabeth? My closest call in the mountains came on a CAVOK day.

Its just not something done in the last 20+ years. A least on the Twin Otter side of things.YYZSaabGuy wrote:lostinthebattle wrote:. What's your point?

Re: DHC6 , both propellers play up
Hey bep, interesting situation. Reminds me of a situation I heard at Air Bc. The engineers did a engine wash and for got to put the glowplugs back in all the way. As the crew applied take-off power the engine fire light illuminated because of blow-by past the plugs. As soon as the crew saw the warni...

Re: DHC6 , both propellers play up
Looks like it was Provincial (Innu Mikun), and from what I gather from the initial post-the prop was feathering which is the opposite direction than reversing . Beta light cycling-props min gov.; prop feathering-torque increasing-pull beta breaker. I know I'll get hammered but me thinks proper check...

I figured a lot of them might stay in the Maldives. With a higher demand for pilots in the Maldives I figure with wages will most likely go up there.

MAT will start operating solely on its own as KBA ceases providing the crew and maintenance to their organization. MAT will continue with its own operation and KBA aircraft will be put in other operations worldwide. Does this mean that MAT will have to buy up to 25 twin otters before Nov 1? If so w...

Re: Question for high arctic Twin Otter dudes
So to summarize, there is more than one size for the main gear. They are:11X12,15X12, Borek STC (unknown size but bigger than 15X12), and First Air STC (similar to Borek but slightly different). As for the nose gear there appears to be a selection of the standard small gear and 11X12. Or is the 15X1...

I guess the size of the nose wheel has been throwing me off. I thought there were three sizes for the main wheels/tires. Thanks for the clarification.

Yeah, you need video footage, then you can shoot them down. Tough day for Borek, with the Maldives incident and all. Hopefully the worst is behind them.
