Re: Hawkair / Suncor close call Fort MacKay

Funny how people who had no part of this can be so critical of this situation. It could happen to any one of us! This is why we read and study the reasons behind incidents like this. We have all made mistakes while working in this industry, luckily the majority go unnoticed. I know guys who have don...

The seven bodies of the victims of the crushing of plane of last Wednesday in Quebec were identified by the Office of the coroner. It is about André Faucher and Dominique Lefebvre, respectively pilot and copilot of the pla...

Re: question....

Nathan, First off get your instructor rating many small operators in Canada usually have a small flight school of some sort and will not even look at you with out it. The other benefit to this is you will build time. I know people who have bought Type Ratings and it did them no good at all. It is fr...

Re: Delta Airlines hiring

UPS is suppost to furlough between 200 to 300 guys starting in 2010 thru 2011. Kinda even's things out. This odd now that they are on the upswing with 1Q Earnings up 37 Percent on Revenue Increase of 7 Percent. Perhaps cost cutting measures to increase earnings? Time will tell... http://www.ups.com...

Well I think this is good news that will flow over into Canada...Found it on PCC. Delta to hire 240 new pilots in September! Hopefully a sign of good things to come. Happy flying!

Airline industry recovering, says Iata trade body

The global airline industry will recover strongly this year, as both passenger and freight numbers improve, the industry's trade body has said. The International Air Transport Association said the sector would still make a loss, but predicted this would be half its estimate in December. Iata now exp...

Re: PBS Frontline - Flying Cheap

It is funny how this industry goes. I remember when I was just starting out, I had a whole whopping 250 hours, and another guy beat me to a Ho job by 30 hrs. He seemed so confident! He was quite smug about his ability after graduating Coastal Pacific. I thought maybe because I didn't go through a co...

Re: How long did it take you?

I must say, it is time as well some luck, perhaps a lot of luck. I know it took me from start of ground school to a decent 206 job...4.5 yrs. From that, an additional 2 yrs to a right seat Be 20 and then another 1.5 yrs to the left seat. This was at a time when the industry was doing well. Now that ...

For Sale David Clark H10-56HX ENC

Like new David Clark H10-56HX ENC. Used it for a short time while I was converting my fixed wind license to rotary. Since then I have moved along in my fixed wing career and no longer need it. It has a total of 25 hours on it, and is virtually like new. No signs of wear and tear at all. I really lik...

Re: Good Idea McMurray Aviation

I wouldn't wish Fort Mac on anyone. The guy to girl ratio in Fort Mac is like 15:1, so if your a single guy, good luck! McMurray Aviation is an OK place to work. Wade is pretty easy going for the most part and Rene, well she adds some color to the place. If you want the van...great! But be prepared ...

Anyone have any information on Hawkair? I had a look at their website and it is pretty limited as for their hiring requirements. Also, anyone have the skinny on what they are like to work for? Thanks.

Yeah went by their hangar a week ago...although their Navajo was in the barn, the place looked deserted. I think the old owner flies for Hawkair now. As far as a Navair/Regency comment…well it was a small operation trying to make it in a tough market.

No,no Cat...I have great respect for those who have flown DC 3s. I kinda wish I could have had the opportunity. I have heard that this guy is a real wacko! I know a couple of guys that have delt with him and say he is a dinosaur. Should have retired back when the DC 3's were in production. But what ever the case, I don't have to deal with him so who cares. Apparently he has a crappy attitude. Good luck Helije...
