Re: Skydive Toronto sells C182 type ratings-SCAM!
I applied years ago when I didn't know better. Paid for the C-182 course, passed and was told I was good to go. I'm still waiting for a call from Joe. Moral of the story never pay for any coarse and get paid to fly. Too many pilots are too hungry to get into the industry and screw it up. Use your c...

Re: MAG Aerospace $2,500 signing bonus for the 2024 season
Just posted today: $2,500 bonus for the 2024 season. Read about it below. I flew for Mag for a number of years and enjoyed flying the Skymaster. It was easy summers and stress-less flying as it was only VFR flying. Each year was a different flying adventure as it all depends on the fire season. One ...

Re: MAG Aerospace
Great flying job. Going back for my fourth year. Descent pay with good equipment C-337, 25 days on, 5 days off, housing included, all VFR flying. A few are coming back and the one's who moved on look back on this flying as a great summer. Hours of flying depends on the condition for that summer as I...

Re: Aviation website for Cdn pilots to figure distances
Thanks for the various web sites. I have tried all of them and some are easier to use than others. I was doing some reading as to what a cross country is in Canada as I had thought it was 25 NM but there is nothing I can find as to what is a cross country distance in Canada. In the US a cross countr...

Aviation website for Cdn pilots to figure distances
I am looking for a Canadian aviation website like Airnav.com so I can figure out my point to point for cross country distances. I have not flown in Canada for a number of years and I am getting ready to get my US FAA ATP-R certificate and need to prove to the examiner that the cross countries are fi...

Re: Shortage Of Pilots
It is amazing how often I have heard that there is a shortage of pilots. I have been hearing that since the mid 1980's. If this was true I should have been in the airlines years ago. As for the US airlines after June 2013 to fly with them you will need to have your ATP. This is due to the plane cras...

Re: Am I employable to fly as a bush pilot this year??
Trey, The Otter and Beaver time is from being PIC in it as I got it years ago when you could get time in these airplanes. The good old days when having less than fifty hours of float time, got you into a Beaver or an Otter. At the time I flew the Beaver I had only a fresh seaplane rating, 5 hours an...

Re: whopping 21% of Cdn. fliers depart out of U.S airports.
I have been flying in and out of Buffalo for over twenty years now. I have looked at using Toronto but the taxes, fee's etc are way too much. The using of American airports will continue till we wake up but I don't see that ever happening. My 2 cents.

Re: Seasonal Pilots - Do you get Overtime & Benefits?
I believe the that overtime issue is one of those little dirty secrets of flying in the bush. I worked for two operations over the years and took one to the labour board for overtime. I was able to get the money owed to me. The only reason was that the company didn't treat the workers good, so two o...

glorifieddriver: Suggest you go back to school and become a plumber or electrician. A lot better pay in the long run and you can go work any place. Then buy yourself a plane. So what are my chances of getting into the bush this year??
I just sent out a number of resumes tonight April 11, to a number of bush operators. The flight school I'm working at in the US is really slow. I just finished off my only student I have had since January, a IFR student. No other students on the horizon. Daytona Beach, FL is very quiet for students ...

Amazing how times have changed. In 1998 I worked at a company that hired three of us to fly a Beaver. All of us had less than 50 hours on floats and two of the guys were checked out and flew that summer. I was not checkout as I became the dockhand that summer. Basically if you had your floats rating...

The US Sunken Military Craft Act basically has to do with the US Navy. This act is anything within the borders of the US. The US Navy does not allow the savage of any of their airplanes at all. In Lake Michigan there are estimated to be about 200+ of them but they will not allow any one to savage an...
