Re: Canadian/First Air Merger

it's a hard pill to swallow to go from a senior captain to about halfway down the seniority list. With the merge everyone keeps their seats but any roll backs and you might go from 73 captain to right seat on a dash or ATR. 7F has a lot of senior pilots who were working there prior to 5T ever exist...

Re: Canadian/First Air Merger

All mid to junior F/Os leaving for Swoop left seats and a few to Air Canada. A few left for Encore left seats previously. Flight ops integration won’t be for a few years so nothing really changing for us other than uniform and livery when that eventually happens.

Just curious, is the 737 FO job out of Edmonton or Calgary rotational? Could you live in another province and commute?
There are several commuters living in BC that commute to YEG and YYC on the Boeing but it's not rotational.

It's the future of UUULCC... Choose a fare that has 2 pilots and a meal or get the 1/2 price fare with 1 pilot and 1 cookie.

They would have a button in the ground control trailer labeled... "Wake Pilot" and it would send an electrical shock through the driver to snap him/her out of their peaceful slumber.

Re: So even the greatest pilots in the world (Americans) couldn't save you from the MAX...

No, it's not quite the same. The Ethiopian pilots performed Boeing's recommendations exactly... and now they were left with an aircraft so badly out of trim that they could not manually retrim it due to the aerodynamic loads. The Ethiopian pilot did not use everything that was available to him to c...

Re: King Air at Gillam, MB

Was at Wasaya before KAL got it. I really enjoyed the performance it had with the Raisebeck mod and 4 bladed props and no autopilot. A completely different animal to ZPW. Those photos were taken from ZPW on a return flight to Rankin from Churchill. John F. was flying CGT with Tanice and I had Tim P....

CGT is mothballed outside the shell hangar in YWG. Missing it’s engines, tail, etc.

ZPW is still flying as far as I know.

By the above photo, high float landing gear, wing lockers, and 3-bladed props?

Thanks... I have a lot of time in CGT and ZPW from 15 years ago. Tough to see that happen to a company I spent over 6 years at.

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

I can’t believe the amount of pilots that are defending Boeing and the 737 MAX. I'm not defending Boeing. Poor MCAS education and activation design as has been discussed. I'm trying to wrap my head around how 2 planes crashed in day VMC when the pilots had full electric pitch trim authority and wer...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

the fact remains that the trim can be BOTH electronically or manually overridden. And disconnected. The MCAS commanded trim can not override the pilots. Uh, that's the whole problem with the MCAS system. It does not disconnect unless cut off. From what I gather, once the mcas has driven the trim do...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

Both the Lion Air and the Ethiopian crew had full electric pitch trim authority at all times while the stab was powered. What I dont understand with the Ethiopian crew actions is why they only trimmed nose up to 2.4 units and not back to 4.6 units which is where the stab trim was when MCAS activated...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

Now reported that MCAS implicated in Ethiopian crash: https://www.bbc.com/news/business-47745191 The latest media report is saying the nose pitched down at about 450 feet AGL. MCAS is supposed to be inhibited with the flaps extended so unless this crew raised the flaps to zero by 450 feet AGL this ...

I just looked at the FDR data and the Lion Air crew was able to trim the nose up with electric trim while interupting the MCAS. https://reports.aviation-safety.net/2018/20181029-0_B38M_PK-LQP_PRELIMINARY.pdf This is the PDF link for the preliminary report for lion air. Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max

Looking at the report thew crew was able to stop the nose down trim and trim nose up with electric trim. I wasn't sure if nose up trim only stopped the nose down. If they had only put flaps out a second time after the nose down trim started again. I'm m finding it tougher to believe the Ethiopian ac...
