Bellanca Skyrocket CF-DCE on the Manicouagan River near Baie Comeau. This was, the perfect location for a seaplane base, with no hills surrounding the area and this great river stretching northward for over than 200 miles. So flying an overloaded float plane increases your confidence by a big margin....

Bellanca Skyrocket CF-DCE, bought from Superior Airways at Fort Williams, winter of 1965. This aircraft was purchase by Mr. Georges Hamel owner of Baie Comeau Air Services. This was a great plane; I had the opportunity to spend the summer of 65 as a crewman, what a great experience. Flew this plane ...

LFR was flown by Jean Marie Pitre in 1974. Picture taken east of LG2, bringing a small tractor(8000Lbs) to build the first airfield at LG4. We (CF-FKZ) were following him in case of an engine failure. Oil paint made by C. Weber.

Re: avcanada book club?
I agree, The accidental Airline is one of the best book on aviation history of Western Canada. I read it twice; great story. If you have a chance to read the book: My compass points North, by Gerry Johnson. (out of print), a story in northern Manitoba. It is hard to believe that a man has worked so ...

Re: Pic from a swamper
Very nice picture! Reminds me the good old days... However, it's the first time that I see a DC-3 on skis with a passenger door. Usually, they are fitted with a cargo door... Do you know where this picture has been taken?
