Re: Bush pay???
Damn, sounds pretty rough. As a low timer myself i can definitely sympathize with you guys, some of these operators are pretty cheap. As for my situation... aircraft used: Bell 206 Jetranger, Robinson 44 pay per month: 3200 salary, 20$ a flight hour hours worked flying/other: usually 8-5 off the ba...

Re: 7hr float rating
Red One, that goes without saying!! You always use a reference whenever you can, but you also set the aircraft up as previously described at a 150 to 200 fpm descent, hold your nose attitube in the landing attitude and use your power to control your descent. Then again what happens when you don't h...

We all should be fortunate enough to work for employers with standards.

Re: 7hr float rating
Did any of you guys ever think of using the shoreline for reference ??????? That is the only reasonable way to deal with glassy water the rest is just BS ----sure it can be done -- but why make it more difficult and less safe than it needs to be? I could never figure out why anyone would wan...

Can you say drag --now think--water -- that is why
It is a flying boat just thing of what would happen to a tail-wheel of that size on a water take of or while scooping water. At 80 + Knots I would guess.

Re: any one looking for a float driver this season?
You got it---- talk is cheap on the Internet --- lets keep this Informative and professional so everyone can benefit from it. If anyone has Questions on the Contract pilot issue we just had several companies up here got through it all with the same outcome . Not one Pilot or guide Qualified as a Con...

Re: The 206 on floats
I have to second your thoughts about the 206 . with extended wings and VGs and the prop and engine upgrades they beat the 185 full or empty....at least the one I used to fly. The flaps are much more advanced than the 185 flap and generate way more lift --- there is no need to pop them that is pilot ...

Re: Polarized Sunglasses
There is a lot of misinformation in here. The real reason is that many jets actually have polarized coatings on the windshield. If you wear polarized glasses on top of this it will generate the ''Spanish cross'' effect in essence blocking all light and rendering you effectively blind. You can recrea...

Re: any one looking for a float driver this season?
I thought this would ruffle some Internet warriors feathers  Thanks for the help with the Grammar anyway :prayer: If you really are in the position to hire anyone---- Make sure to get a Revenue Canada ruling on the Persons contractor status. There have been several companies busted here as of l...

Re: any one looking for a float driver this season?
Thinking about it don't we already have this? Shouldn't we be making a Contract (an actual written contract that we have done up) stating the terms and conditions. Lets not let the employer do it; if they want us to work for them...heres the deal... Everyone of us should be an independent contracto...

Re: CAP floats @ Watson Lake
When the focus goes from Building floats to how to get as much money as possible from Governments you may as well sink the ship and shoot the captain. No point even thinking about what could be. Canada has enough projects like that. Cap floats where not competitive way back when why would they work ...

Re: Requirements to Teach Float rating without Instructor Rating
The whole deal started with people being trained by low-time guys with a instructors rating and really no float experience, about the same as basic instruction today just less forgiving. There were big problems with that set up and the powers up there somewhere decided that it would be beneficial to...

Re: ski plane service for snowboarder/skier
We fly skiers/boarders and last year even some Kite skiers up into Kluane National park or the Ice-field in the Chillkoot range. From there on it is Hiking up and ski down--- there are only a few Places that are good for drops on top to ski down and be picked up again . Most people that have the Mon...
