Re: RV-8
Mr Oake, thanks for the updates. I've been a fan of the RV 8 for a long time, especially the dual baggage space and long range tank option as well as the ease of construction, so this spring I bought the preview plans, got my builders number, ordered the tool box and aileron practice kits and starte...

Re: Good Companies
Sunwest +1 What area of the country? West, Sunwest, North Cariboo once you have some theme, Northern Sir Charters in CYPE seems like a good company to cut your teeth at, promissory bond I believe. Once again with a bit of time try Air Partners. Canwest is also a good place to get experience as well....

Re: Air Bravo
North Shore is correct, except pay at AB is actually reasonable. Regardless, Stay Away! Personal experience and a lot of it, this company is not worth your time at any stage of your career. It was a bad place to work and from the mouth of current employees its just getting worse. Lots of issues but ...

Re: Air Bravo Corp
Good Day, Nothing much has changed at Bravo over the years, Conditions a couple years ago were not great, Partially a product of the work environment, and I hear they have become worse. They pay is not too bad, although the pay-scale is only a guideline and pilots are paid on a case by case basis. T...

Re: Air Bravo layoffs?
The bond at Bravo is much much less than 30 K. It is a little longer than a year because it takes effect after line indoc and certification is completed, However the terms are very fair compared to other companies. FO's also have a bond but the small monetary value associated with it is to make peop...

Re: Throw away society
Quality is still out there, Im driving a fine example right now. 420 000km, never stranded me, One main bearing seal at 190 000km, never any problems and dry as a bone underneath, Good on fuel, great on power and never anything more than regular maintenance, for an expensive car, aprts and service a...

Re: Image Air
Image Air is probably one of the best run companies in Canada The have a very professional team and an unparalled attitude towards safety, I enjoyed my time there and hope to make it back at the first upturn in the economy. Pay is average to better than average, But Image Air has an unparalled per-d...

Re: RCMP - just another fatal fiasco
Snagmaster E We all (as citizens) need to question and scrutinize our police force. History has not had good outcomes for people who do not question the actions of those who are supposed to keep them safe. The RCMP also simply need to be investigated by an impartial and educated department. Im not s...

Tadoulie lake can be a challenging field, But I dont think it is unsafe nor do i think it should increase the risk of operation into it. Tadoulie has a steep hill over almost all of the runway with the exception of the threshold at the top of the hill (mabey around 3%, possibly as high as 5%) and th...

Re: HOW TO CLEAN A WINDSCREEN
Remember there are 2 steps involved here, If your aircraft windscreen is a acrylic. Clean it first, use a vertical wiping movement with soap and water to get sand and aggrigate off. Polishing on the other hand is done properly in swirls, With a clean cloth as a previous poster mentioned. I personall...

Re: Taser International loses first liability suit
Simply Put, Tazzers are not safe. They temporarily inhibit normal body function and recent studies have found repeated use to have lasting damage in Pigs with exposures lasting longer than 4 seconds, Leaving some doctors to draw the conclusion that damage is occuring with any application, but not me...

PFO'd 14 hours after simulator evaluation. The sim eval was fun and not too difficult, Flew what would be considered a good ride, didn't blow any altitudes by any appreciable amount, One steep turn was within about 120', the other hardly any deviations, Improvement from start to finish and what I th...

Re: How much money will I make instructing?
I was an instructor during a slower time in the industry, But even as a class III , I did ok, Here is my breakdown. I only have a year and a half to go by, Year 1 was tight, Had it been a fiscal year, I would have pulled in $20 300 based on doubling 5 months 16 days, realistically, with a week off, ...

Re: Is instructing looked down that much?
In many cases the wage paid to instructors is close to or at minimum, based on the practice of only billing for flight and ground hours. Wile you (the student) are doing your walkaround, Chatting with friends, Checking the weather in Seattle for a flight in Halifax, We are not getting paid, But we h...

Re: C-FMOM, RCMP spy plane?
My sources tell me it is a spy plane that is able to listen in on wireless (read corldess) telephones. This is a particularily powerful tool for the police because the law is at best vague on this type of informatin sharing. When Phones are tapped, Warrants are required, Since wireless phone signals...
