Re: Kirby Lake Crash Oct 25th
This one hits close to home for me because I am a Cenovus employee who works at the Christina Lake plant just down the road from the Kirby Lake strip and we fly in and out of Kirby, been in and out of that strip 4 times in the last 2 weeks. I was a passenger on a crew change charter flight that left...

American STC's on a Canadian plane.
Just wondering if an STC that has been approved by the FAA needs to be approved by Transport Canada to be used on a Canadian registered plane. For example, Trimmer Aviation in Alaska has an STC that I am interested in to install Supercub gear on my Tri-pacer to convert it to a taildragger. Can I hav...

Re: Insurance on student owned plane used for flight training.
Im pretty sure the COPA silver wings program is more geared to private owners who are licensed and want some affordable liability coverage. Maybe shop around and see some regular quotes, but they will no doubt cost you a lot more. PS> Do you have hull coverage as well or just liabilty? I don't have...

Insurance on student owned plane used for flight training.
Hi everyone, I'm a student pilot and I just bought an airplane to finish up my private license. I got insurance through the COPA Silver Wings group plan. The FTU that I am training at has requested that they be listed on the insurance policy. The policy already states that a flight instructor will b...

Re: tail dragger training in Calgary
Namao Flying Club just north of Edmonton had a Citabria available, and according to their website it looks like they still have it, although I haven't been there in a few years to verify for sure that they still have it.

Looking for a partnership in the Red Deer, Alberta area.
Hi everyone, Just wondering if anybody in the Red Deer area would be interested in going in together on a partnership to buy an airplane. Or if anybody knows of any existing aircraft owners in the Red Deer area who might be interested in taking on a partner or two to reduce expenses. I'm partially d...

Re: Affordable flying - what are my options?
Thanks for the replies everyone, there's been some good information. I think for the time being I will keep saving my money a little longer, then go to Skywings and finish my PPL. I want to save up enough to finish quickly, not drag it out over many months. Then I will rent from the Olds/Didsbury fl...

What do you know about the Red Deer Flying Club?
Hi,
Just wondering if anybody here knows if the Red Deer Flying Club has aircraft available for rent, and if so what kind of planes do they have and what are the rates?
Thanks in advance,
Randy

Re: Affordable flying - what are my options?
Just a thought here, but a big part of your problem seems to be location? You might plan to make your flight training a "vacation"? Go to where the training is, and spend a week "immersed" in aviation. Train every day, or every other day? You have 25 hours. A flight school should easily be able to ...

Affordable flying - what are my options?
Hi everyone, I'd like to here some opinions on what the most affordable way to get into flying is. I'm not looking to fly as a career, I already have a good job as an electrician/instrumentation tech, I'm just looking to fly for enjoyment, and possibly even to fly back and forth to work up in northe...
