Re: Bose a20 and sunglasses
I am a geeser now , sort of , but no one used headsets in 1979 when I was learning. We are all deaf now, but my instructor was deaf then! the odd headset was showing up around 1982 or so. All us geezers use whatever glasses we like , and fly around looking like dorks with our glasses" arms" resting...

Re: C-185 Float Training
Sudbury Aviation on Whitewater lake in Azilda. They've been in the business for a long time and have great people. They have a 185 on floats and a beaver and I think they might have a 172 or something on floats for training too. There is no substitute for professional training from people who do it...

Re: Airline life
It was only when we were 50 miles away from Winnipeg when the true enormity of the task ahead of us presented itself. The ATIS told the ugly story. Rain showers ahead. Water on runway. 11 knots of wind, and it was not down the pipe, folks . Double-digit crosswind time for the logbook. You had me ho...

I heard that there are about 6-8 questions about the GPS, which makes up a good percentage of the exam. Maybe I'll go and write the INRAT soon to find out for sure!

Re: Looking to do floatplane rating
Learn floats from those that have been doing it, in the real bush not cottage country pretty lakes and docks, for many years. Another one is http://www.sudburyaviation.on.ca/flight-school.php - they rent too. (I'm not associated with nor did I train there). I second this! I trained there a few year...

That is one name I haven't heard of yet!... I'll have to look through the logs.... It would be fantastic to see everyone on avcanada who has flown in QEH or YKA post something here! QEH is close to 20000 hours. there must be a few of you here. In QEH's first log book Mel logged his first hour when ...

I memorized all of the formula's at the time, and I still remember them (mind you, I do use them often).
Heck, for some reason, I can still do 'Finding the Sun's True Bearing' - and I never use it.
