Working Outside Canada, taxation
Looking for some input from pilots who have worked outside of N. America, paid locally in that country and paying income tax in that country. Now assuming that you are still a resident of Canada for tax purposes (not taken the Non-Resident for taxation Purposes route) I know that to be fully legit w...

Re: Morgan Air
The flight schools in Okotoks and High River are also great options if you are in the south of Calgary. Minimal to zero delays in waiting to takeoff and all your air time is productive, maybe one or two others in the circuit. Practice area very close and close enough to YYC for instrument work. I pe...

Re: Doctor's Charge for TC Medical
That raises a good point ahramin, especially for those of us now over 50 year old. In a Transport Canada Medical, your doctor is focused on medical conditions that make you fit-for-flying and looking for medical conditions that would possibly lead to incapcitation in flight. So he is not looking for...

Doctor's Charge for TC Medical
My doctor here in Calgary has just raised his rate for a standard pilot's medical from $100 to $125, cash (or Visa) at the door. This does not include anything extra like ECG, audiogram, etc.. Of course there is then the incremental $55 Transport Canada charge to be paid on top of this. How does the...

Re: Fiji´s licencing
Back in the mid-seventies I was the second pilot to fly for Richard Evanson's Turtle Airways (C206) and when I left 18 months later he was on #14 or so (all in the middle were Americans). Say no more. Was a great experience, met some wonderful people, did all the flying for the Blue Lagoon movie and...

Re: Pinetree Defense Line
In the late '70's I was flying right seat in a Norcanair Canso waterbomber that was on contract in Ontario. Was a wet summer so we did some freight runs (building blocks) up to Ft. Severn and stopped at the old Norad base at Winisk. Same story, absolutely immaculate with lots of equipment just parke...

Advice on salt water / harbour operations
I am working with a new seaplane operation outside of Canada and would like to speak with an experienced west coast pilot or operations person on various issues of seaplane operation related to salt water and harbour operations. If you're interested in helping us out via a few phone calls can you co...

Turbo Beaver Operational Costs
I'm looking to get a breakdown of operational costs for a turbo Beaver on amphibs from someone; average fuel burns, hourly maintenance, engine/prop overhaul allowances and such. I'm sure that more than a few of those on this forum have some good 'real world' experience. The machine will be operated ...
