Re: Accident location - Beaver CF-IOE

Hello 180 guy, The basic information is in my first inquiry. The cairn was built by the Regina Imperial Oil Ltd staff near the crash site on August 3 & 4, 1956. Transportation was provided by DHC-3 CF-IOD. The pilot was Dave F...... and the AME was Tom R...... To the best of my knowledge, the site w...

George Kelly was the prime PetroFina pilot on the "doorknob". I saw him occasionally in Inuvik in the early 70's.

Re: CF-INA Dornier Do-28 MSN 3092

Hello Avi, Do-28 msn 3092 went to Israel as 4X-CFD and the last I read was that 3092 was rebuilt by "Eduardo" in El Salvador in 2013. When using Google to search be aware that there are 2 Do28 types. There was the smaller model such as CF-INA and the larger model called the "Skyservant". In addition...

Re: Corporate Department Longevity

The history of corporate flight departments is not very well documented. Similarly it is difficult to find any information about company owned aircraft in the annual company report. My definition of a Corporate Aviation Department is when the aircraft is owned or leased by the corporation and the st...

Re: Pilots Getting a Tip

I appreciate everybody's view point but ....... I had 2 tips in my first 31 years of flying in Canada. The first was when I was 20 and I was flying as a Captain on a 402. Paid 250/month, cleared 222 and bank loan was 200/m. Unfortunately I was never paid. The breakfast the client purchased for me wi...

Re: The Father of Bush Flying

While I have the greatest respect for Mr. Ward's accomplishments, I certainly would not call him the "Father of Bush Flying". There were many pilots flying the north in the 20's, 30's and 40's who accomplished heroic deeds with long careers.

My thoughts go out to the crews during these difficult times. However ,you can add them to the long list of corporate operators that have shut down over the past 25 years. (Mobile, Chevron;Shell,Amoco, Lmperial Oil/Esso Resours, Petro Canada to name but a few)

Re: The personal log book thing.

Good day, For a private pilot or a commercial pilot that does not plan to fly outside of Canada then it is up to you as to whether or not you keep your log book up to date. In my case I do keep my log book up to date. While I never carry my log books with me but I do carry a USB stick with a copy of...

Re: E145 Type Rating in Canada

I am in the same boat. I have the E 135/145 type rating on 2 licences but not on my Canadian licence. When I approached TC, they told me that the manufacturer (Embraer) had not certified the aircraft in Canada - read cost and no sales.

I hope that the crews were well treated. By my calculations; From PCS; CS had 22 years of employment RI had 21 years " " From Agrium RG had 21 years " " Not enough for a good pension. Who was kept on? FYI - Agrium did not buy / take over PCS. It was a mutually agreed amalgamation with PCS being the ...

While I do not know the history of Kenting Aviation I do know that they were Toronto (Malton) based. In 1972 Kenting Aviation purchased Atlas Aviation (Resolute Bay) from Weldy Phipps. Weldy (and St. Bernard - Brutus) stayed on to oversee the Kenting Atlas operation for a period of time. In 1973? Ke...

Re: Canadian Pilots flying a US airplane in Canada

Good day, There are several issues here; 1) Licencing - I feel that schooner 69 has addressed that 2) Tax - ie GST. There are several issues that need to be looked at. The first is the 180 day rule with GST and TC. If you have a corporate jet ( American registered) and operate in Canada then you hav...
