Re: WestJet to be sold in friendly deal to Onex Corp. for $5 billion

Privately owned companies can still have employee stock options. I know of at least one (non aviation) company that does it. Rules are a little more complicated, but it's still viable. Hopefully they see the mess that is swoop and kill it before it wastes more money. If I was an employee holding sh...

It's been 13 hours to departure at Jazz for a long time. Never found it got in the way of enjoying a beer here and there. If you NEED alcohol that bad on your overnights and are mad when your can't have a beer on a 12 hour sleep over you need to reassess your life choices. If someone has an issue w...

New bottle to throttle rules

Perhaps I will be the first to say" The new rule sucks!" Wow, 13 hrs now bottle to throttle, meaning most of us have lost another 2 hrs of drinking before departure. We can fly exhausted (which is like having drinks in the system) yet we cannot have a drink less then 13 hrs before departure now. Has...

Re: SWOOP OTS Captains punted from left seat...

I think most of us can agree that today is a good day for Canadian Aviation and a victory for organized labour. Hopefully most of the 26 will go back to the rocks that they crawled out from under and reflect on the damage they nearly inflicted on the rest of the industry. Congrats ALPA. Keep up the...

Did our new CEO not just say today on BNN ,that he will not negotiate in public? Yet, WJPILOTFACTS.COM is still up.

Re: Swoop Cannibalization of WestJet Routes

Pretty hilarious to see that GS just created a two-tier pay system and there are actually pilots buying it as a good idea. WJ is so flush with cash, that to say that lower wages are "needed" in order to compete with upstarts is laughable at best. The shareholders just want a bigger slice of cake, a...

Re: American Express (Premium Plaza) Lounge will now require a boarding pass

Most likely this would never have happened if crew members purchased the $699 card instead of trying to screw the system by buying the supp cards. Apparently there were even cases where the primary holder was making profit on the supp cards by selling the for up to $250. So in the end it came down t...

Just curious if anyone knows if the support pers required to run Swoop will take pay-cuts? I can't imagine that they will have their own maintenance team, so will WJ maintainers take an hourly reduction when they touch a Swoop tail number. Will dispatchers take a pay-cut when they dispatch a Swoop c...

Hey guys, just wondering if any YYZ commuters would be willing to share the rates you are getting in YYZ. The rates for WJ pilots is going up at almost all the hotels we stay at. Rookie, you said It's very simple. Under your plan a pilot jumps out of the cockpit surprising any would be terrorist with the randomness of his exit foiling his plot to rush the cockpit. Not being a total dummy however he alerts his colleagues that the pilot will be going back in 2 minutes later. T...
