I think rapidairs at first, then YYZ-TLV and YYZ-HND near beginning. They are training RP's this month. Not sure about LHR anymore.

Re: Embraer Runway Excursion RNY 07 in Ottawa few moments ag

I hear ya! June can be really bad for icing on the runway. Good comparison. Although the runway was reported as slippery, and a pirep reported it to be worse than as reported by the tower, the approach was highly unstabilized. According to to the TSB report, at 100 agl prior to touchdown, they were...

Re: seriously..!!!

Part of the reason airlines declare a "pan pan" or a "mayday" is because they fly to parts of the world where english is not ATC's native language. They don't understand "We've got a bit of an engine problem that we are running the checklist for and we'll need a few minutes then we would like to ret...

Re: Crash @ North Spirit Lake Ont (5 dead)

I'm kinda hoping that Transport Canada ends up in the spotlight over this one. I think their SMS bullcrap system is partially to blame for this one. Safety costs money. Every 703/4 and 5 operator thinks that they are safe until they have to write a cheque. Why else would TC switched to this lame sys...

RP's spend one extra year on flat pay, before going to pay group pay.

Re: Procedure turn

No PT!!! In your example, especially since MDA is only 200 ft lower than 25 mile safe, I would project a waypoint 5 miles from the NDB, on the approach track, and go DCT (5 mile fix) DCT (NDB). You pick up the inbound track at the 5 mile fix (and if you've programmed it right, the GPS will guide yo...

Wow. What a big surprise that is. The forum is shut down the day after the MEC decides to put the TA to vote. What a huge crock of crap.

Any more?
Not true. You can file no-alternate IFR in Canada.

Re: Longer runway for Halifax airport

TC is in for $9 million eh? So how much are they in for YYC's parallel 16/34? I'm sure the Calgary Airport Authority has collected enough taxes from passengers to pay cash for that one. They should put a CAT2 into Ottawa. I'll echo my above statements and say they should install an ILS to R25 first.

Re: LifeGuard 3 King Air B200 off runway Maple Creek SK

Turbo-prop, I have to agree with ipilot54's statement. It is proven that a two pilot operation is safer. The only reason not to have a second pilot is money. Also, it is very hypocritical of you to slam having a second pilot in a certified single pilot airplane, as that is where you, as well as I, g...

Re: Impact of YYC no longer accepting general aviation

I saw on the YVR atis last week that there was flow control into YYC. I thought it was a joke. Every time I get a hold going in there (which isn't very often I might add, like two or three times), we get the hand off to arrival, and there is like three other call signs checked on. What gives?

200, I find your statement difficult to read, due to grammar deficiencies. Perhaps all the double and triple negatives are confusing you. And its not a legal technicality, or loop hole. It is a law. My RCMP friend agrees, as does his RCMP/ex trucker wife. So do the MLA's who believe that the merit o...

Re: Do We REALLY NEED Two Pilots In ANY Airplane??

The other thing is that Canada was a little prehistoric when it came to visibility mins. Everywhere else, you needed the vis/RVR to be the same or better to what is published on the plate for your approach catergory. When I think about it, its a little crazy to be shooting an ILS to a Cat 1 runway, ...
