Re: New Agreement
I agree with you in principle, 100%. I am just trying to sort out the facts objectively. I think you have to look hard at the pension issue and consider the following things (I am just asking): How many people are on the pension right now? How many people will be on the pension in 10, 20, 30 years? ...

Mapleflot? Ohh yeah, thats what they used to call AC back in the 70's. Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to YYC, please set your watches back 35 years. Or is that what them Jetwesters call AC now?

Re: Layoffs... True?
If they really want to work past 60, go to the sandpit. What is happening at AC is just a micro version of what is happening in the country. One generation found it acceptable to rack up huge debt and defecit finance, let the next generation pay! AC needs pilots to work till 65 to delay paying pensi...

Re: Pilots resign after Emirates A340-500 accident
I am sure A330 thinks about it quite often on his 42 days of annual leave. He proabably thought about it on some YQR layover in the winter long ago as well. Take the good with the bad, I m sure he's happier there. Personal choice and I am sure he appreciates home more than most people do and is havi...

Re: Qatar Airways Hiring
Doha sucks, and so does Qatar Airways' work environment. From the outside it looks like a 5-star airline but those who work there would testify that it really isn't. THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS OF DOHA: 1) Apathy 2) Ignorance 3) Greed 4) Incompetence 5) Sanctimony 6) Sodomy 7) Incest Except if your a local

I remember seeing the Cox DHC 3 frame at Boeing Field in 88/89 minus wings, tail and engine. I hope it helps, I did get a look at it when he had it in YXD in 79 (I think).

Re: Air Canada Ordered to Pay Dr. For Mid-Air Consult
I think Air Canada usually has medlink if satcom is available. Most companies that use medlink are usually bound by their FOM to consult them first, then the assistance of a medical professional as long as they can prove their credentials. Most FOM's state that when handling medical cases the PIC wi...

Freeloaders, I mean Freemen... Just kindly let BCFS know where you live or mark your property out so that the good people there and at Conair, Colson, VIH etc dont waste their valuable time putting a fire out near your location. Then when your place is burning down you might think of where your some...

When did Westjet start flying to Ponoka? Hey FM, If you do ever get on a flight somewhere just remember when that door closes, the Captain is the final authority to ensure the guests, crew and airplane are safe (especially from disruptive pax). Can you accept that or would that make the C...

Re: Difference between the WJPA and an actual Union?
Look at the Canjet crew. A hijacker with a real weapon, no one was hurt. That was the best possible outcome in that situation because the way the crew handled it. I dont know the details but the fact that there was a safe ending, the details will only help the rest of us if that ever happens again. ...

JS is 100% correct. If pensions are not addressed this time, the company will keep using it a big stick over everyones head to get other concessions. Then when everything else is stripped down they will get the pensions as well, its going to be the people with 20 + years of service left that are goi...

Re: Anyone know more about this??
CARS gives NO protection to pilots in terms of duty day, daily, monthly, quartly and yearly hours flown. Canada has the most abusive limits. Places like South Africa, UAE, Russia and everywhere else I have any reference to do not allow more than 900 hrs in a 365 day, I think the US might be 1000hrs....

Take note Franky Jr,
Do you really want to work somewhere that considers training "a demoralizing and expensive battle". I hope this guy is not instructing or checking. King Air PIC should be more than enough for a Boeing, if the training is of any standard.

You might be sitting at either position for awhile. Take the lifestyle/cash, you will get to where you want to be career wise eventually. Enjoy the ride, dont burn out. I m happy and lucky I was at a good company in the early 90's when things were slow, really got to appreciate my co workers and som...
