Re: Considering jumping ship
Pilots with a 'commuting pilot' ticket have priority over anyone else on the standby list except for another 'commuting pilot' ticket holder who is more senior. If you get stuck in Toronto there is a Porter rate at one of the Holiday Inns which I believe is $138.

Roster publication date
Is there a certain date each month when you can be sure you will have your next month's roster in hand? Is that date consistent or does it move around?

Re: Emirates or Air Canada
Primary consideration for joining Emirates is that it is a waste of time unless you plan on 25 years or so. If you have some idea you will likely leave earlier, don't go. An early departure will see you having to join someone else's seniority list and also discovering that many potential employers w...

Nearer Downsview than YYZ would be ideal, looking for a place which offers a private room, parking not required, likely to be used for one 11-day period in each month. PM with ideas....

"Jets always need speedbrakes"..... I bet your training department doesn't agree with you. Re the 195 being slippery, the facts don't bear that out. Just looking at the manual for the E with the 777-300ER manual alongside, it looks like the Boeing needs another 35 miles to get down from 350 whilst d...

I'd be pleased to hear anyone's discoveries regarding YYZ "crash pads". I'd like to arrange a room which was solely for my use, happy to pay a monthly rate.
Does Porter have crew rates at any YYZ hotels?
PM if you have something for rent......

Recently retired ATPL and had a class one for 40 years. Now I'd like to get a Class 4 but am not elegible for self-declaration. Anybody have experience of an AME on the island who has a human/rational approach to the issue thereof?

For Dave P - a request for a little latitude with thread drift.... I and several other contractors do simulator instruction and examining for other airlines on the 737 and 777. All these airlines have the bulk of their instruction and about half of their PPCs done by outside contractors who are high...

An AC pilot retires after 25 years to a monthly dribble of cash which evaporates upon his death. A Canadian expat retires after a 25 year career with $3,000,000 in liquid assets (ask me how I know) for him and his family to enjoy indefinitely even if he personally chokes on his pizza at his retireme...

Airbus design idiocies are legion. To add to the general derision of yaw control, here is one about the control of roll.

Not an AC employee, using ZEDs - any easy way to list?
So via my own airline can get ZEDs on AC but not via the MyID travel website (something to do with AC ticketing software), only via my own airline's website. Is there anyway to easily list once I have the ticket? If not online, is there perhaps a dedicated phone number for staff listings or will I n...

Is there work for UAV operators?
Anyone done this for a laugh alongside or after their flying career? What kind of opportunities are there? There are a number of places offering training and/or credentials. Any experiences?
