Re: Looking for a job at WEST WIND?

Quinny....prolific tells the truth. Things have gone downhill. Still great people there, but new managers are tearing it up. It's very disappointing to those who wanted to go the distance with the company. They are just a training company now with all the lack of loyalty that goes with being so

Re: Accident Report

The thread has taken this turn - icing - well isn't that a scary thought but it's very hit and miss forecasts are never that dependable and usually there is a way to avoid the ice. Clear icing is the most dangerous for sure but it is also the least common - unless you drive into a CB it can usually...

Re: Accident Report

Perhaps, I overstated the risk thing. We've only been doing this for a little over 100 years...not a long time relative to human existence. How many people got hurt figuring out that they shouldn't fly into thunderstorms, or took off from a dark runway and experienced black-hole effect. Every time s...

Re: Accident Report

De-ice equipped aircraft are never intended to be operated in icing conditions for an indefinite period of time - I'm confident you're aware of this. De-ice gear is supposed to give you a chance to get out of the icing conditions. Though, people get away with is all the time; you can operate a PA31...

Re: Accident Report

This is exactly the kind of thing I went through last winter. Icing in the forecast, aircraft not certified for icing, and my chief pilot argued that the CARS only excluded uncertified aircraft from flight into "known icing". I consequently showed him where the CARS stated forecast and known icing, ...

thanks for the responses, still not what i was looking for. i remember seeing some from the ysf fires last year that pretty well pinpointed the areas that were on fire, and the areas that weren't. as for notams... checked and rechecked... doesn't help much at present. i was more concerned about the...

Nice post, Fog. Paperwork is important, but TC needs to look beyond that to really get a sense of how a company operates. I've worked for a few companies in this industry and have seen management scrambling to get the paperwork in order for an upcoming audit. But, once it's over we are back to the s...

I agree with your statement about the company making money. However, it is unclear whether Norcan's insurance woes carried over to NDA or not. NDA was a money maker. Especially since they saved a shitload on salaries. As I've said in previous posts and in other threads, I'm not at all happy to see s...

I think we all agree that it's better to look professional than like a slob, but let me clarify something. When you work at NDA as a pilot, you aren't just flying. Many times I've seen the guys get off the plane or even before a flight have to load and unload the sched, stoke the infamous boiler, or...

All they are going to get are a bunch of dilapitated PA31's. What sickens me is no provision has been made for the employees in terms of possible employment. All they were told is to send a resume to Father D. and he would forward it on to TW. All the planes are heading south tonight and no provisio...

There were about six "regular" pilots flying the metro with two others co-joes that were back and forth between the metro and ho's. Northern Dene employees are now suffering from "lack-of-confidencistis" and jumping ship. Word on the street is the company has been sold.

The topic of buying a PPC has been a common theme in all threads on this forum since the beginning. It's obvious that it is a sore spot in the industry and rightly so. Of all the banter I've read on this issue, the one thing I have not seen (maybe I missed it because I haven't been around since the ...
