WOW a week to ten days-not sure that's accurate. It's worth your time to call your local TC office instead of getting the expert advice you just received here.

So SRV, let me get this straight, the root of the problem is that there just aren't enough pilot inspectors with experience to do the job and so aviation safety suffers. I think you need to have a good look around you and realize that doing route checks and reviewing training records and operational...

Re: Twin Engine PT6 rigging
Pat's partly right but the biggest single issue I've encountered over the years with nearly all King Air/B99 models is stretched cables. Now I'll confess I have never had any experience with new or low time aircraft, they have all seen better days but if you're careful to adjust some of that extra p...

Re: Applied for TC Civil Aviation Safety Inspectors position
misterhoney, I'm a little surprised Transport Canada accepted your application without you having met likely the most important part of the statement of merit, an AME Licence. That being said you obviously have a reasonable combination of experience and education if you've been invited for the exam(...

Bede, You need to get with the new world order on how to respond to Transport in this situation. First of all as CFI you bear some responsibility for the position your solo students have found themselves in. That being said I can't help but wonder if you took any action to remedy these errors your s...

Re: Floatplane corrosion
We used to put zinc blocks on the float keel aft of the step, on the aft bulkhead of each float and for good measure on the water rudder(s). These help to slow down the corrosion action but the best method is to make sure you flush regularly with fresh water and make sure you use the corrosion inhib...

Palmerqc, You didn't say what your applied for, however I went through the process for a TI-06 (Airworthiness Inspector) almost two years ago and don't think its changed. You need to know; CAR 107 (SMS),CAR 571, 573, 605 and associated Stardards for a start. You'll also be required to take an Englis...

Photofly The problem with the sticky that your A&P is providing is, does it meet the requirements below when you or an AME go to install your repaired component? 571.13 (1) Subject to sections 571.07 to 571.09, no person shall install a part on an aeronautical product unless the part is (amended 200...

Re: Parts maintenance under US/Canada agreement; paperwork
Photofly Section 3.1 of the MIP may imply that the FAA A&P/IA can approve your component for return to service and if the aircraft were in the US and he was performing those repairs and installing the component as long as he met the requirements - experienced on type etc. you would be fine. The prob...

If you're in the pool and haven't been called yet it probably has more to do with the region's budget process, but could also be that the locations you've indicated you would like to work at are not filling any positions at this point. You should contact Rocky Mountain Aircraft, ask for Mel he should be able to assist you, but if you're thinking about a rebuild project bring your checkbook, typically anything thats spent time in a warm marine environment will have some corrosion issues.

While the porter is a great aircraft it does have an equal out there with a larger payload, the Helio Stallion for one and although the specs say takeoff and land in 350 ft., with the PT6 and half a load a 100 ft is do-able.

You might want to start by having a look at CAR 605 and STD 625 regarding maintenance requirements and you'll have to submit an MSA to Transport for approval and fee of course.

Re: Adding S license to my M2 question
Airmech07 have a look at Standard 566.03, you'll need proof of training (wherever you took the structures course) plus log book tasks, which you'll also find in the Standard and of course pay your fee. You should not have to rewrite CARs again.

Re: American school accreditation?
The answer to your question is not that simple. Have a look at Standard 566 and go to 566.07(2)(a,b,c)(Other basic training). In there you will see that even if TC does not "approve" of the training program you may take in the USA or anywhere else for that matter the training can still be assessed a...

Re: Canadian AME releasing American machines
Troubleshot, Wrenchturner is correct about having an endorsement/type rating for the aircraft you might sign a release on. An area you may want to look at for additional guidance is the Bi-lateral Agreement between Canada and the US, there is a section on MIPs which speaks to the requirements for a ...
