Re: career choice

If you already set your mind that you like teaching and you're gonna be an instructor, probably it would be a good idea to train at a FTU and then teach for them... this is what i'm doing... you're gonna be hanging out at the same school for a few years so be extra careful on the FTU you're gonna ch...

Re: Bernoulli sshmernouli....who cares how a wing lifts?

I'm reading the popular "Stick and Rudder" by Wolfgang Langewiesche and this is an interesting quote from the book: "When you studied theory of flight in ground school you were probably taught a good deal of fancy stuff concerning an airplane's wing and just how it creates lift. As a practical pilot...

Re: Air Sickness Help

Update on my situation... i got ~10 hours on my logbook by now for me the bracelets work 100% *IF* i combine them to 2 pills of ginger gravol... i still get queasy after 3/4 spirals and heavy turbulence but nonetheless i always manage to land without a bag which i still only had to use on my first f...

Re: Q'S REGARDING PPL!

Good point about the computer flight sim... altho at first it helps getting more familiar with the instruments, what they look like, what they do, that's about it. Works better if you have yoke/rudder pedals but still, it's not the same, there's no point running home from your flight and pretend pra...

Re: Air Sickness Help

THEY WORKED for me also, and I can say I'm VERY HAPPY! I got a pair of those bracelets (12.99 here in quebec), the same I think, mines are the "sea-band" by pharmasystems, with the ball in the middle that applies pressure into your wrist. Anyways, they got rid of pretty much all symptoms and for the...

Re: For those that are ready to spit the cash (interesting)

This is interesting... My new roommate here in Montreal just got hired as a flight attendant for Air Inuit, he's not a pilot. But apparently, if he wants to get his licenses and become a pilot for them, Air Inuit would pay for all his training. My 2 cents now... CQFA (or the college route) is a grea...

Re: Air Sickness Help

Thanks, I'll try to find those wristbands... but many sources (including Mythbusters) swear they don't work... 2 pills of ginger gravol work for about 30-40 min, after that the warm feeling followed by nausea starts. I hate that because then we need to land while I could do some more excercises... m...

Re: Air Sickness Help

I've just started my PPL and last monday I had my second flight ever... Even tho I tried my best to look outside at all times and flew the plane (except for the landing), I barfed like an animal once out of the plane (and later on driving home  ). I really didn't see it coming because on m...

Fly with dog.

Just a curiosity as i'm currently studying for a PPL. Is it possible to bring your own dog in a small plane after obtaining a PPL? Anybody tried bringing the wife and the dog on vacation in your own plane? I assume it's better to own a plane for this kind of adventure and I'm sure you need some sort...

Re: Flight schools in Montreal

To the original poster or anybody else in our same boat.... I did quite some research lately as I'm about to start training for PPL, CPL etc. and the FTU in Mascouche, ALM par avion, is my choice. It's the one that gave me the best feeling, the CFI seemed somewhat honest about the school and aviatio...
