Re: Westjet Pilots Vote Against Expanding Widebody Fleet
Thanks for your thoughts RealityChex, always great to see you here. This is a massive disappointment from all sides. MOA#4 was endorsed by our pilot representatives, required 6 months of talks and then mediated by a third party mediator. The end result was voted down by 81%. On a positive note, at ...

Re: Jazz purchasing more CRJ900s (assume converted to 705s)
No. These new airplanes are certified as -900's and will remain as -900's with 12J 64Y configuration. The current fleet of 16 -705's will be converted to this same configuration and will be "re-certified" as -900's. The -705 designation will cease to exist at Jazz. What????? So Jazz adds one more s...

Da40 sucks. Temp and weight limited in summer heat. I'd go parachute over a flying sperm.

Porter Tailstrike in CYAM TSB Report A13O0098
http://www.tsb.gc.ca/eng/rapports-reports/aviation/2013/A13O0098/A13O0098.asp Why they don't just do Flap 35 at all airports like Jazz is beyond me. Helps a lot with nose high landing and approach attitudes. I know their thinking is for CAT2 practice having Flap 15, but it's a Captain only landing i...

Re: Small companies that pay over $100k
I heard ORNGE can pay a little over $100k on a PC12 for Captains. Plus benefits and such. I know a few guys making a career of it there in Northern Ontario. Plus cost of living isn't as high at ORNGE bases for the fixed wing side.

Re: dash8 classic question
Depending when, but this time of year Jazz and other operators are using winter weights.
Also typically a breakdown could get you in the jump, but if it's all or more than half male pax. There's little chance it can work.

Re: Our Trip on Westjet..??
Be aware though, according to WJ, they have no obligation to seat you next to your family members, even if they are children, unless you pay for seat selection. Even on the same booking/PNR. That's about the dumbest thing I heard all day. No obligation maybe, but common sense dictates unless your s...

Re: Porter selling off its terminal.
Crew meals have gotten pretty rank there too and it use to be really good when Bagel boys had the contract. If you look at the company as a whole over the last 7 years. It's easy to see all the money pinching cost savings they have been doing. Selling the terminal is the first step of a cash flow is...

Re: Porter selling off its terminal.
I think $500m is a bit exaggerated. The fact that porter has to pay off its debt means investors want out. Secondly Porter still has to pay off the money to build the terminal. Thirdly I highly doubt they will pay off all the airplanes since they need a down payment for the $3.2B C series order. If ...

Re: And still, CBSA agents are exempt from security screenin
I was going thru the domestic screening in Terminal 1 at YYZ the other day. Got the red arrow, so I did my thing and stripped down for the metal detector. In comes TRANSPORT CANADA. Shouting "Transport Canada" holding up his badge and walking straight thru without stepping on the selection mat. Of a...

If that's the case good job by the crew Distance from CYVQ to CYZF is 370nm If the engine failed three minutes out of CYVQ, and the flight crew kept on going to CYZF instead of returning to CYVQ provided the weather was good in CYVQ, they should have the book thrown at them. And I'd also like to kn...
