Re: AME Licence Renewal

The delay is only for the plastic licence (problems with printing them). At least that is what my TC office told me. You can get the temporary paper one in the mail in a few weeks and there is no fee.
I got my temporary licence in the mail 10 days after I dropped off the forms.

No Biggie, IMHO!

Re: TC Inspector

The only reason to join is the pension and once the current government get through with gutting the public service, it will be heavily modified and unattractive.
Spare yourselves the agony and look for a "real job". :(

Re: I guess flight attendents are rude.

I need to chime in. My best friend is an AC flight attendant and she is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. Of course I am completely biased. :) For those who think they are all old, fat, and cranky...her and her friends are anything but. They are all in their 30's, attractive, and they ar...

Re: TC Inspector Shortage

ALF, SMS assessments, PVI's and PI's do not define TC Inspectors. The back seat of a 206?? I presume a Cessna 206-really can't see a lot from there? Bell 206. Hope she enjoyed the ride anyways. She put up a fuss to get on board. SRV- I won't engage you any longer. Your view is obviously very ...

Re: TC Inspector Shortage

Just for the record, pilot inspectors (CAI's) are required to maintain annual/biannual medicals, ppc's and instrument ratings, with which a lapse in any one would cost them their job. So every six months the job is in jeopardy. The maintenance inspectors (TI's) have no such risk to job security. Th...

Re: TC Inspector Shortage

Of course, that disparity exists in the real world too; AMEs don't normally make as much as captains. I have been in industry a long time and know this too be true. I thought TC hired "Inspectors", not Captains or AME's. :) Shouldn't all inspectors make the same amount of money? I know some Pilot I...

Re: TC Inspector Shortage

Oversight as we knew it went down the tubes when SMS was introduced. The problem was that TC threw out the old oversight program (audits) before SMS was brought in for 704, 703, and 702. Now we have TC Inspectors doing SMS style oversight on non-SMS companies. It just doesn't work. My buddy is an ma...

Invite only. I believe only Accountable Executives and OP's Managers from the 50 something floatplane companies bombing around on the coast. Plus some TC folks.
My buddy is a DOM for one of the floatplane companies and he requested an invite but was told "not at this time".

Re: Ottawa to tighten rules governing corporate jets

Another move by the conservatives to restrict freedoms. I have been reading a lot of bitching and complaining on here about how TC is moving in the wrong direction as far as giving up oversight and licensing. Seem like Baird is hearing the masses and I suspect this is the first of many steps to com...

Re: Beaver down off Saturna island?

We are all assuming that the pax were conscious and not able to open the doors. IMHO blowing off the doors when ditching in water is not such a great idea. The water rushing in would surely sink the plane in seconds instead of minutes. Now don't ge me wrong...I know that no Beaver has a door that se...

I cancelled my interview... I am sure you have made a wise choice. I have a friend working there. The pay sucks he hates it. The reason they got the 30 day NOS is because their QA system is virtually non-existant. No QA = no AMO FYI, Enhanced Monitoring lasts for 90 days...not 1 year as mentioned a...
