Holds
Hi Boys, Ok quick question for you. I've been introduced to two different types of CORRECTION methods for holds when dealing with a tail/headwind. The 2/3 method which I don't agree with, and the other method of adding/subtracting the seconds according to your outbound / inbound tracks. If I fly out...

Re: maylan thread
And it's ok to put students, instructors and other pilots in danger like maylan does? It's ok to ignore health and safety regulations and labour laws like maylan does? Probably 90% of flying schools in Canada are operating against the labour laws! Health and safety? The good thing about flight inst...

Is There Movement?
Is there movement? I'm at least seeing a few job ads being posted for pilots / week. This is much better than going for months without any.

IMC and ENGINE FAILURE
I just have a question for you ifr pilot's. You're in a single engine aircraft and are IMC... and all of a sudden you lose your engine. What do you do? How do you do the forced approach when you don't even see the ground?
If somebody could help elaborate on that it would be great.
Thanks

The company had its flaws even when RH was the CFI... Instructors who moved on to better things were thankful for the few years of flying but were not happy with the pay and treatment.

Then I would quite frankly not call them flight "TRAINING" schools.Unfortunately some schools don't seem to rent out planes solo at night time.

Re: Upset training
I had a chap in here today who had been asking a question of flying instructors and they did not give him the answer he was looking for. He'll probably read this, and perhaps so will the instructors concerned and they will know who's who... But this is not about who's who. In the context of current...

Re: Has flying been dumbed down?
So when can we expect the flight training industry to use modern computer flown trainers so all pilots will be more equal? In the not-so-distant future, the flight training industry will have to use only trainers which can be successfully taught via "twitter" and flown only by thumbs. There ...

Re: Vancouver VTA's
Meh, I called and already pre-bought my set of VTA's and VNC's... apparently they're not so bad with distribution. I saw the changes, and I don't see what the big fuss is, they have opened up some really good spots for flight training which are clear of any transit routes between YCW and the mainlan...

Re: How many hours per week?
Was wondering if anyone had any advice about how many hours I should fly per week until I am able to get my ppl? I am in the circuits now, and was told that my first solo should be coming up in the next week or so. One of the CFIs at the club said twice a week was ideal, not too much not too little...

Vancouver VTA's
Does anybody know where they will sell them? I tried calling Aviation world today but they were closed cause of Canada Day. I reckon they're going to be sold out pretty fast, so that means that the rest of us should be grounded until they send out more charts? Also is it just the VTA? I'd guess the ...

Re: Has flying been dumbed down?
Yup, dumbed down and safer because of it. Its like those gear levers that look like a wheel -- that was someone's idea. The gear and flap levers used to look the same, and they are now made obvious (dumbed down,) so it's easy. Same with GPS, makes things easy. Same with an autopilot. And controlled...

Re: Has flying been dumbed down?
Yes it has. Another sub-topic, could this be the reason why pilot's are treated so poorly? Aviation attracting the "dumber" and "non-cognizant" person to the industry hence causing lots of havoc. I'm not necessarily talking about competency and dumbness, even though that also is a factor. But just t...

Re: TC and VORs - a story of love
Just so that you understand VOR's a bit better. Draw a fix on a piece of paper. Draw a quadrant over the station Then draw a bunch of straight lines leaving the STATION. These are your radials. So if you are to draw the line (RADIAL) that heads SOUTH EAST bound, your only way to fly back to the stat...

Re: Relative Airflow? Help With an Explanation!
When we add the backpressure, we are increasing the AOA on the wings to produce more lift for the speed we are going. I think what you meant to say was that when we increase AOA in a steep turn, the airspeed will drop cause of a higher total drag (induced). We overcome this by adding a bit of power...

I honestly think KAG's resume is pretty sweet and to the point. I mean based on what he says, this resume was eye sighted by JZA and he's currently one of their fliers.

Has anybody found success with the avcanada / pcc ???
I mean the Instructor Position posted a few days ago was something I applied to, but no response. I applied when it had 2 views so I must have been one of the first ones.
Interesting....

Then a carrier like Ryan Air walks in and gets all of the customers.
Today it's no longer "oh I flew on British Airways, I can keep my head high." It's more about getting to your damn destination; there are so many options.

Plus, he'll get a dental plan out of it too... we are speaking about Speedbird right?
