Android aviation apps

A young pilot showed me a phone app that was free and had multiple av maps on it. One of the maps was a gps VNC with live weather on it. Any idea which app? He says it was free on play store.

Thanks in advance

Re: Info Request: Hearing Loss - DHC-2 Beaver & DHC-3 Otter

Which part of the country was this. I would like to try. In my first years on a beaver, we weren't aloud to wear head sets. Deaf as a brick now.

Re: Demand for float drivers 2019?

Well I'm not sure if it's related, but the season is only half over and 6 float planes that I know of have crashed. Mainly beavers. Lots of dead people. One pilot had over 20,000 hr. I could be wrong, but I'm guessing most of the pilots may have been low time. How much money does an operator save hi...

Another beaver crash. Labrador

Just read another beaver with 7 on board crashed in northern Labrador. That's 3 in just the last week. So sad. Real question is why.

I fly 1 to 3 days a week. Great gig for an old pilot. Also high Arctic lodges. Incredible fishing and hunting. Not part time, but short season.

Re: Demand for float drivers 2019?

Only Jan and there are 27 posts for float drivers and 5 for dock hands for the month!. This is unheard of in my memory. Unfortunately salaries dont seem to be matching the demand. Job requirements require a commercial license as well some othere skills to pay the equivalent of $20/hr (that's for exp...

I'm a silver member. I mainly belong to support general aviation. They do a great job advocating for the private sector. Everyone should support them jjust for that! I mainly fly commercially, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying the magazine and again, supporting the great job they do by ensuring...

Re: Failure to complete 2 yr currency

My question is simply to do with the validity of your license. If you haven't done a recurrency in 2 years, can you legally fly an airplane. If you have an accident, will you be insured. It seems so vague. It only says you have to do it. Nowhere does it say something like....Failure to comply will r...

Failure to complete 2 yr currency

I havent been able to find the consequences of not having done a 2 yr recurrency. cars 401.5. Do you no longer have a valid license. What if you're ramped. If you own a plane is the insurance valid? I get a pcc every year i have many private friends who I believe have done nothing in years except me...

I thought the federal government was taking it over for back taxes. Anyone who buys the dump will have a huge environmental mess on their hands. Contaminated soil and 3 illegal fuel tanks in the ground.

Strange ad. In these competitive times, why wouldn't they post their name. Also no place to reply. They to stress heavy work is more important than flying skills. Think I'd stay clear of this one!

Aircraft, Air temp, density altitude, load, winds, experience, skill, obstacles, There is no answer beyond experience and skill. Most lakes today have been flown into before. Ask someone if you don't know

Re: Demand for float drivers 2017?

Hey Cat. An easier plane to fly is an A320. The difference is when you get into the shit, experience comes into play. I have a few hours on floats, and while it is easier to fly, you carry more insurance liability. Same reason the bigger the plane the bigger the experience/lnsurance/pay is.

Wow. The most posted job ad on AvCanada. I'm guessing they make more on their $10000 bonds than they do flying. When will they learn to pay and treat people like human beings. Geesh. But to show you how f#%ked up the industry is, pilots will be climbing over each others backs to be a co-pilot on a s...
