Welcome to the new order. This time last year, there were 40 float jobs listed. This year.....0.
Wonder how many operators won't make it past this year?

Re: Seaplane regulation changes proposed
All these opinions are great. However, as an ops manager for a small float operation, where is the "official" rules, regulations, time line, specifications for this. We just bought 4 of the tried and true thin yellow jackets which, I don't think will last a season of constant use. I unders...

Re: That didn't take long...
You should read it again. May be required to pay for training. Not the same as PCC. They seemed to have trouble finding qualified pilots in the past. Not a bad company. You stay at a 5 star lodge, free food, good tips. I might even apply.

Re: Covid-19 impact of float operations
"This isn't going to last forever, we'll all be eating KD this year but everything will surge back hard as the restrictions are lifted." I wish. Fly in fishing is a luxury vacation. Employment will be a long time recovering. Except for making masks, the economy has just tanked. It will be ...

Re: TC MEDICAL EXTENSIONS COVID 19
It says, permits, licences, ratings. My license is an ATPL. It doesnt say anything about changing my medical status.

TC MEDICAL EXTENSIONS COVID 19
So, TC has advised that no new medical exams are to be performed until later and all medicals are good til Aug. 1. Great, except I am over 60 and fly commercially on floats. After 6 months, I don't renew my CAT 1 medical but revert to a private endorsement. I need to do my medical in April to renew....

My doctor is the head surgeon at the hospital. Visitors not allowed. Hmmm. Usually get it in Apr. so that it lasts the float season. An extension would be nice.

100 hr is enough for a beaver? Now I know why there were at least 5 deadly crashes in Canada last year.

Legal question!
A question. Can a private pilot fly a commercially registered airplane for a company to perform non revenue camp work and supplies, ie, fuel, motors, camp work. If they can, what is the CP's responsibility? Do they need tdg training? Anything other considerations?
Thanks for any advice.

Android aviation apps
A young pilot showed me a phone app that was free and had multiple av maps on it. One of the maps was a gps VNC with live weather on it. Any idea which app? He says it was free on play store.
Thanks in advance

Which part of the country was this. I would like to try. In my first years on a beaver, we weren't aloud to wear head sets. Deaf as a brick now.

Re: Demand for float drivers 2019?
Well I'm not sure if it's related, but the season is only half over and 6 float planes that I know of have crashed. Mainly beavers. Lots of dead people. One pilot had over 20,000 hr. I could be wrong, but I'm guessing most of the pilots may have been low time. How much money does an operator save hi...

Just read another beaver with 7 on board crashed in northern Labrador. That's 3 in just the last week. So sad. Real question is why.

I fly 1 to 3 days a week. Great gig for an old pilot. Also high Arctic lodges. Incredible fishing and hunting. Not part time, but short season.

I thought you needed a normal flight instructors licences. Which be a commercial license plus. I used to have a Q rating
