Re: Sky Dive Pay

I flew skydivers a bit... You should check the Okanagan... two DZ's opperate one Vernon and one Kamloops... both fly 182's and both pay $10 per load... check Alberta too they pay their Caravan pilot a flat monthly and per jumper. There are DZ's still on the old pay scale but only because the pilots ...

Re: I think every pilot should do at least 1 skydive!

I agree every "jump pilot" should do a skydive, but skydiving is not for everyone. I was an avid skydiver for years before I was a jump pilot because I love the sound, the feeling, the rush, but I have yanked a few death grips from my chair and layed the boot to a few who got half way out and then d...

Re: Skydive Vancouver

I don't know that they do any skydiving in Vancouver... Pitt Meadows is run by Ian Flanagin. I'm not sure who runs Abbotsford, but I do know they are all US reg. aircraft. You can always ask around on http://www.dropzone.com it's a tight community. Someone will know... who knows the owner may just r...

Re: ".......annnnd...."

I've used the "We" many times forgetting that I had just ejected all four of my passengers at 10,000 ft and on my decent, been busted for it too. Centre replies "We? Who didn't jump?" As I recall I said something like "No, No it's just me and my 182 meat bomber" As for the ...and... I have yet to ca...

Re: Could high oil prices be a good thing?

And so it goes... now oil has hit a low of $36 a barrel... and now where are we? All you that said oil prices were on a runnaway train...HA! But really are we any better off now that the price is down... all of the booming industries revolving around this industry are in trouble and the jobs are bec...

Could high oil prices be a good thing?

Am I alone in viewing the rise in oil prices as an "opportunity" to break the mold. For years we have known that fossil fuels are a limited resource and contribute to greenhouse emmissions that are harmful to the enviroment. We can also see that aviation is one of the hardest hit and a large contrib...

Re: Need advice on aviation industry!

I would suggest doing your training sooner than later... fuel prices are only going up and thus the cost of the licence goes up as well. The longer you wait the more you will pay for the same licence. Getter dun!

Re: Question about the hood during your IFR RIDE.

I never used a hood for my ride, come to think of it I never used it for my IFR training either... I was told "You look up... you fail" No hood required. Your too buisy scanning to look up anyway and how do you check the wing for smoke or fire during the simulated engine fail with a hood on?

I had just finished my Multi IFR with PRO and I applyed to a job I found advertized on this site. 5 days after I printed off my resume, got some great ref's, had the interview and started shortly after. Just turned 33 with 250hrs... 40K a year FO on a 425 Conquest in my home town(in the Okanagan). G...

Re: Boundary Bay & flight training???

CZBB is buisy... on sunny days you will often find yourself #4 even #6 in the circuit with a mix of single and twin aircraft, but this can be viewed as a good thing. It forces you to stay up on your radio calls (if not you can find yourself circling outside of the zone waiting until the controler ch...

Good to hear I'm not the only one. I started flying many years ago and just last year finished everything I needed to start the aviation carreer. I only recommend my inst...

Considering most of the skydive work is seasonal and weekends, what kind of pay structure would have or expect for a chief pilot postion? and 5 bucks a load is industry standard jump pilot pay for the last 20 years. anyone think we're a little overdue on bumping that up? I agree a raise would be lo...

Lets say you really want to become a doctor, what do you do? You get good grades in school so that you are accepted into medical school. You have to pass exams in a number of subjects, maintain a high grade average, and at any point if your skill isn't up to standards you are kicked out. Now if you...

As I said before it is not all about the flying of the aircraft... . you really need to take some time to retain what it is you are reading.
