Re: More WJ layoffs
I think everyone is nervous about things to come after this MOA expires. The federal government seems hell bent on crushing Canadian aviation. Having said that when the recovery happens it’s going to be sharp. Laying off pilots will be extremely expensive if companies are trying to ramp up to meet t...

Re: WS/WO Layoff Mitigation Agreement
In my opinion pilots are missing a big point. The NC bought us time. If things don’t improve and we get laid off it’ll be in October not June (for most of us). So now the clock starts on EI in October not June. We will have some money in our pockets until at least Oct 2021. Hopefully the recovery wi...

Yes they're all equipped with the water methanol kits. First sign of trouble they hit a big red button and whamo they're half way to Grand Forks climbing thru FL180!

Re: Road Shows
Hearing really positive feedback from the pilots I know. Double time on the 17th day and its limited to 1X per pilot per year. New scheduling rules that really help out the commuter. Good pay scales with new fo steps. Most guys are happy. Some guys aren't happy but I suspect they aren't happy people...

Early rumour is they'll be increasing the numbers in the YVR Base even shrinking the YYZ Base if need be.

The agreement is still in force between the airlines and airports. I have verified that this is the latest document. Yyz is looking to start charging airline employees as of January next year.

11.6 ATAC MOA regarding AIF
Has anyone at Air Canada seen the ATAC MOA regarding the agreed regulations on applying avaition fees that an airport cna charge and how signatory airlines will collect and retain a commission for the fees? It's the ATAC MOA and clause 11.6 states that no AIF would collected from ID coded tickets. M...

Re: Why WJ Pilots lost all my respect
I'll third that motion by KAG. Been at WJ for roughly the same time KAG. Living the life I always dreamed about! Making the extra money when I want and taking the extra time off for lifestyle when I want. Life's a balance and it's really easy to do that at WJ. And probably the best thing about this ...

Re: Emergency descent..
Stig I'm not sure what airline experience you have but why would you cap a 800 to 150? You'd be losing revenue from 24 seats. One of our longest legs maybe YVR to CUN or YVR to Hawaii. The fourth flight attendant for one leg would at most cost WJ $350. That would be easily covered by 1 of the 24 sea...

We've been operating illegally up until now. We've been operating with 1 FA per plane as Profit Share was down from last year. Hoping to make it up. In order to keep the culture up though the Captain and FO have been taking turns helping the 1 FA in his/her duties. Darn accurate and fair media has b...

Request from a Recip pilot
Hi everyone is there anyway that you guys can talk to your people in charge and make listing easier? Perhaps this day in age even list on the web? Re: part time flying
Part time is likely changing with the new agreement. It'll be more of a transition to retirement plan. Limited to captains and will likely be limited to 10% of the pilot group.
Re: MAX!
Anyone know what the top end speed of the Max will be? See some articles saying it'll cruise at .79 mach. Would be nice to be going a bit faster than that. Although in these days of fuel savings I would imagine that we won't be anyways.
MAX!
WestJet Airlines Ltd. has signed a letter of intent to buy 65 of Boeing Co.’s new 737 MAX single-aisle planes for $6.3-billion (U.S.) at current list prices. The Calgary-based low-cost airline said Thursday that delivery of the new fleet is scheduled to start in September, 2017. The proposed order i...

Re: Did you get your galley cart?
I wouldn't dismiss another employee group nor would I beleve any 'heresay' about who got what. What is sad is this minor issue shows the disconnect between the Campus and airport as shown on the comments section on westnet. However there will be a new momo shortly recarding the carts. I for one app...

Re: Union at West Jet
The WJPA is doing a fine job. I doubt any union could do any better at WJ. For me it's the speed that these changes are being made. Code Share, Encore, Bases, 1:50, just done with absolutely blinding speed and no way to react to one change because another is guaranteed to be right around the corner....
