Re: Hernia
Hi there. I've been unfortunate enough to have had two. My first was a left inguinal in 1992 and more recently, a right side inguinal in 2007. Both were corrected/repaired with open surgery with a recovery period of six weeks. They can be repaired by laparoscopic surgery which is said to reduce reco...

Re: Who else enjoys the opposition making an ass of themselves?
O.k Icebound. My comments were not to rewrite history. Macdonald was a "Conservative" and not a "Liberal," but he was a liberal minded politician (federalist). As a matter of historical context, liberals of 140+ years ago have actually evolved their idiologies. However, I have not erred by quoting M...

Re: Who else enjoys the opposition making an ass of themselves?
The Governor General has two choiced after a vote of non confidence: ask the opposition majority if they can successfully govern (that IS the question) or call an election. It is important to remember that in the Canadain parliamentary system no one has the "right" to govern; they are ask to form a ...

Re: Morgentaler Get the Order of Canada??? WTF??
Jonathan Swift had a Modest Proposal. Dr. M. got the award for advancing (equity not equality) women's rights. The abortion debate will always be...well debated. Ethical quandries are tricky notions - when you view them from a consequentialist (the most good for the most people) and non consequentia...

Re: AvCanada has become Useless
Hello all, long time no post. AVCANADA is just another form of media/soapbox. I would never expect people to agree on political agendas from such a wide geography such as Canada. I believe that you all contribute (some more than others) to the discourse on a wide range of subjects in the misc/politi...

Re: Advanced Education - is it worth it?
Hey there - long time since I last posted. When I started in aviation a while back I had a marketing diploma and an aviation management diploma. I flew for ten years on and off and decided to go back to university for my Bed. I'm done this year and I am not sure whether I will resume my career in av...

Edmonton City Center Airport - again
Well, we finally have a person on city council that believes this airport is good for the city and can make money. As usual, he is up against the drones at EAA spewing statisical inferences about the growth of th International...BTW, I have never used this airport to travel anywhere in Alberta. Rest...

Or a commercial license? So I guess the question is, where does it end? I know it starts with being able to work for reward. That is the "commercial license." If I want to fly anything with more than one engine, I need a multi-engine endorsement to go with that license. Since most types of advanced ...

Hmmm. I have given this some thought. If the Canadian Press can write a story about "deadbeat pilots," are we not entitled to a rebuttal? I mean grouping pilots with deadbeat dads is a little on the dramatic side. How about; "Deadbeats at Transport Canada billing starving pilots for phantom service."

PILOTS NOT PAYING THEIR BILLS
By CP OTTAWA -- Deadbeat pilots who don't pay their bills are gumming up the works at Transport Canada. Last year, about 12,000 pilots had not paid the mandatory $55 fee for medical certificates they received from the department, says an internal audit. Some owe for more than one certificate. Altoge...

Jeese Cat, you know what? If I got fired for not going below minimums, or fired and blacklisted for not doing something blatantly unsafe, I would look at another career. At least I would be around to make that choice. There are a number of impressionable pilots that read these posts Cat. I hope that...
