Re: Flight bag recommendations
If I am flying freight I use a backpack.
If I am flying sked, I use a swissgear briefcase roller bag. It fits a clipboard, headset, a couple of books. I found it at Bentley.

I believe that the Baslar conversion on the DC3 gives the a/c a zero time airframe. I could be wrong though.

Re: Northway Caravan
I worked at Northway for a year after flying strictly day VFR floats in the bush for 5 years. The training is great there and it didn't seem like a stretch to fly spifr. They also will not push you into something you are not ready for. It's not an operation that wants you to kill yourself. They resp...

Re: A Day In The Life...
I wake up whenever I feel like it. Sometimes I just stay in bed all morning. Finally get up and make some coffee and have some cereal. Surf the Internet and the couch. Sometime in the afternoon I might go outside and enjoy the late fall air. I see a deer run through my yard. I feel like trash so may...

I know of a guy who comes around Crane Lake MN every now and the who picked up a nice Beaver a few months ago for $250,000. You wouldn't have trouble with 3-4 pax and gear in short or high lakes.

Re: INRAT Questions?
Classic Av Canada. A couple of days ago I posted on a forum to see if my books are out of date for the test I'm about to write and I get zero response. This one has two pages already, and it's all of jackasses criticizing other people for looking for help. Let's get it together people, I thought we ...

Re: IATRA questions
I'm writing the IATRA in a couple of weeks. Does anybody know if there are any new types of questions on the exam? All of my books are versions from 2007-2009. Would they still work for me or should I pick up the new versions? Any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW the book I have is the aerocou...

Re: 5600 LB Gross Weight Increase for DHC-2
This pretty much sums up what I was trying to find out. I was just having trouble finding information online about the mod. My employer was talking about a mod that brings the engine mounts foreward an inch or two. I was just curious if it had anything to do with an upgross. Thanks everyone for the ...

Re: Gear to bring up north
I always found that a lighter was a handy thing to have in your pocket at all times. It doesn't have to be fancy, just a bic will do. You'll probably find yourself cutting up new rope, or lighting a camp fire, or lighting up a burner for a fish fry etc... I buy a new bic at the beginning of every se...

I believe the primary use for the tank on the bottom is to re-stock lakes with fish. They load the tanks up with fry and dump them into lakes. The tanks are also used for fire suppresion.

Nice, I fly a Beaver in and out of the same bay as the US forrest service. I believe it is a little ways away from the airport (I call it Leustek bay). They fly around 3 beautiful shiny beavers, while I fly a well used workhorse.

I did my training there in 07'-08'. Aircraft are well maintained and very nice to fly. Ownership has changed since i did my training. I've met the new owner and he seems like a nice/knowledgeable guy. I believe you can also take their aircraft solo which is a good thing. I recommend the 50 hour bush...

In the summer I work as a Beaver pilot. In winters, I work as a pad coordinator at Winnipeg central deice facility. The two jobs work very well together. I usually get about 2 weeks of down time between each job.

I'm just going by what they told me. They said FO's range from $900-2200/ month. They also told me there are 3 round trip flights paid for, and I thing the rotation was 1 month on 2 weeks off. The rotation may be incorrect, I can't remember that part. The bond was definetley 2 years though. They als...

I had a telephone interview with TMA about a month ago. They told me it was a $12,500 2 year training bond, and FO's start at $900/month. They also told me to shave my beard????? I was confused and not so interested after these facts.

Air Hart in Kelowna has a 172XP and 180 on floats. I think they will even rent it out solo. At least they did about 5 years ago.

Re: Pilot wrist watch, is it a good thing or BS
I have a simple wind river carabiner watch. I don't like having anything on my wrist while I'm flying, I'm not sure why. It only cost me $35ish from marks work warehouse. The only issue I see with it, is it scratches when I load an aluminum canoe onto an airplane.
