climb gradient

Yet again, I impress myself with my lack of memory or grey matter. I forget the formula to convert ft/nm to % climb gradient. If I remember right 400ft/nm equates to roughly a 7% climb gradient. Any help would be appreciated.

The early 50's seems right. There are a few neat wrecks in this area, all from the heyday of exploration around Great Bear after WW2.

Or if you're north of 60, ground visibility does not apply. What I don't get is when in position you can see the opposite end of the runway, RVR is reported at 6,000 feet, yet the ground vis is reported at 1/4, so you can't leave cause you need a 1/2 mile. Had this the other day and the tower would ...

And we don't need to limit this toYellowknife companies only. If YZF companies aren't capable what about outfits like Kelowna Flightcraft, Cargojet and others. At least offer Canadian companies the opportunity. Every one supposedly slams Buffalo for being unsafe due to old equipment, well what do we...

This is the point I was trying to make in a different thread concerning the same topic, although I must admit I did a poor job of trying to express my point. Why can't the local "canadian" carriers have the chance to either upgrade equipment or fly the freight in existing aircraft. The local carrier...

This is what slays me about our government. They legislate our industry to death, then they turn a blind eye to these Russian chunks of crap coming into the country to make huge dollars. Sure they're lifting capability is unbelievable, but some of the soviet stuff I've seen, holy, nil safety standar...

This Otter has been based in YBK for the last couple of years. The nicest Otter I've ever seen, and I've been around a few. Off-strip big wheel work with over-sized tires, I think it would be a blast. Run by a fellow named Boris who has been in YBK forever, and all my dealings with him has been posi...

So this is where 182 Driver ended up. No wonder there is a lack of single women whenever I go to T.O.. Can't wait till he rewrites the S.O.P.'s at Jazz. Jazz's gain is Westjet's loss, best of luck, 182 Driver.

Goldeneagle, very, very, well said. In aviation we write the test first, then learn the lesson afterwards. Working the dock in many ways is a two way street. The owner gets to know you, your work ethic, attitude, and type of person you are. You get to know the operation, the pilots, company attitude, and decide if the operation you're working for is for you. The goal at the end of the road is the coveted...
