Re: High altitude cold weather corrections

I have some experience in cold weather operations. Seems to me the answers by Switchflicker, Rockie, and aux bat were correct. Don't mess with enroute altitudes. Use a higher one if the temperature correction on a lower altitude brings you to close to terrain...or a lower pressure for that matter. B...

At least someone has the balls to say what everyone's thinking
Not saying it because if it turned out to not be true it would be a cruel and thoughtless comment.

There was no mention of wages in this ad...As it is always a a good idea to clarify wages and expectations before accepting a job, and some pilots accept the job and then ask what it pays, I thought I would share a bit of wisdon Companies that are hiring more frequently than their fleet size would s...

It is good to see that there are other that there are other possabilities rather than a lack of stick and rudder skills that might have caused this unfortunate incident.

SkyVan pilots

I like to look through the ads for jobs. Gives me a bit of a window on the industry. Which brings me to the ad for Skyvan pilots... No company name, no requirements..Well, actually nothing other than send me your resume and contact numbers. I find it hard to believe that anyone would actually respon...

this requirement has absolutely nothing to do with weight and the plane. Search the forums for Turtle airways..The ads run quite frequently. I could post the exact reason for the requirement but it would get the thread locked up. suffice it to say anyone interested would be well advised to do the ab...

Yes I do, and I am not going to post it on a public website. If he was a good friend then get on the phone and call the family and speak to them.

Leave the gossip and speculation to the little people

After 250 responses here you should get the idea that it is not a big deal.. But call the local ATC folks and ask them. That way you are sure you are getting it from the horses mouth and not the other end. As an aside, a couple years ago I was doing an overflight on a ferry flight from Fredriction t...

The follow the highway pretty much works except between Ft Nelson and Watson Lake, and between Northway Alaska and the first range (assuming youare goi...

Re: Belly Fuel Tank for a Beaver

cdn...check your pms. Can you put the belly tank on with floats? I have never seen that. The belly tank is far easier and cheaper to install than the wingtips, and it goes into the center tank which I like better. If it can be used on floats, I agree, that would be much nicer for fueling...though th...

Refer to Canada (federal) labor code. It is all in there. Unfortunately, because the federal labor people do not enforce things as enthusiastically as some provincial labor boards, many aviation companies in Canada ignore them. It also would not hurt to review the provincial regualations and have a ...

Re: Float plane take off distances?

As arule most lakes are also surrounded by hills os not only the length needed for takeoff, but sufficeint distance to outclimb the rising terrain. Lots of planes got airborne only to hit the hill at the end or stall trying to turn away from it. As someone mentioned, until you really know your plane...
