Re: Where were you on September 11th 2001?

I was in my grade 8 class. I remember asking my teacher if the Empire State Building was hit because my aunt and uncle work close to it. It was a huge relief when my mom showed me an email from them saying they were alright and made it home safely.

I agree with this 100%. Pilots need an orginization to stand up with them.

Re: Sault College

I don't even bother with the Outback anymore. Maddisons is decent if you want an adventure.
The planes may seem new, but they're nearing the end of their airframe life...which means new airplanes!

My favorite so far is "Land on twelve Jazz 1234"

As for the "we", only if I am not alone in the airplane.

That wasn't supposed to be bashing Sault College.
If you look at everything statistically, then Confed "should" be easier. If you study, work hard and save the partying for when it's appropriate, Sault College is easy.

Re: Where Should I Go?Confed. Or Sault?

ONE the fail out rate for the FIRST SEMESTER is about 1/3 (which is ridiculous) The Sault College failure rate is about 1/2. I'm in 2nd year there now, my class started off over 100, and it's down to the low 40s now. I used to complain about the high failure rate here too, but then I heard stories ...

Re: Domestic vs. Foreign

This sums it up! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lrk6vsb77xk&feature=related Try towing a bobcat into the bush with a Toyota Hilux Diesel. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it wouldn't be a pleasant experience. A full size domestic 4x4 truck is more suited to that task. I'm not saying it's ...

Re: Domestic vs. Foreign

I really like the Subaru WRX, probably because it's got the same cylinder configuration of most airplanes. They also have a good reputation and would be very entertaining to drive year round. Another car that has my eye is the Saturn Solstice/Saturn Sky, the 2.0L turbo motors just seem exciting in a...

I'm starting to regret having an opinion. After all, I only attend the school.
How about everybody stops bickering like children and offer their opinions based on their experience. That is what this forum is about.

Re: Where Should I Go?Confed. Or Sault?

I'm at Sault College now, and doing pretty well. I wish I had chosen Confed, but that's my opinion. I'm not going to say any college is better than another because it's really personal preference. I am going to recommend that anybody looking for an aviation college should go visit the colleges, talk...

Re: London Airspace Change/ Fast one by Nav Canada?

The Class C airspace will just help control traffic, but that only works if they understand what tower is telling them. If they really want to fix the problem in London, they should make the language testing mandatory before getting a student pilot permit. I would feel a lot safer flying in London t...

Re: Where Should I Go?Confed. Or Sault?

Just to clarify, the numbers at the top include tuition & flight training. Still very expensive, but not as much as you are saying. With 4 years of living expenses im sure the number would hit 6 figures. Oh. I was under the impression that they were seperate. Sorry for any confusion. Whether it's 7...

Re: Where Should I Go?Confed. Or Sault?

This is similar to the estimate I did for myself when I was looking into the UWO program a few years ago. Year 1 19,620.29 Year 2 18,068.59 Year 3 16,772.84 Year 4 15,498.09 Total 69,959.81 Last time I checked, their Katana's rented at $120/hr [over a year ago, so it's most likely gone up] I'm guess...

What's the typical float and multi time for new FOs when they're hired by KBA on the Twin Otter?

Re: 50hour Float Courses

I finally heard back from one operator that said they have hired float pilots with and without a 50hr course. The impression I got from the email is that it is possible to get a job with only the 7hr rating, but 50hrs definitely won't hurt.

50hour Float Courses

I'm working on my CPL now, and I am going to do my Float Rating. I'm curious if it's worth doing a 50hr float course. How much difference will it make to employers if I can say I have 50hrs floats on a C172?
