Re: 757s for Jazz
Hi twinpratts, The Thomas Cook 757 bid just came out, and training for the 757 starts in September, with flying starting in early November. Since we are on status pay, every pilot in the company will get a raise from these planes being on the property, not just those that fly them. Here's how it wor...

Re: Jazz Ratification Vote.
What conditions must be met in order to receive a per diem at Jazz? ie Any calendar day where you complete a flying sector? 4 hours of duty, and you'll get a perdiem, even if it's a single-day pairing. How much you get will depend on how long your duty period is, and checkin/checkout times. Example...

Re: Jazz Ratification Vote.
Total of $131,000,000 additional dollars will be spent by Jazz on Pilot wages, benefits and expenses over the next five years, an average of $26,000,000 per year. 26 million per year divided by 1500 pilots is a $17,333 increase per pilot per year. Or about $86,000 per pilot over 5 years. That is ab...

Re: Jazz Ratification Vote.
Good for me, good for the pilot group, good for all professional pilots in Canadian aviation.
We now have a good contract that ALPA and Jazz Air LP can both take ownership of.
This pilot group forges ahead, unified.

A sincere thanks to our MEC and negotiators. Can't forget the SPSC as well.
I'm sure ALPA will have its press release out sometime later today.

Re: Jazz pilots contract?
With respect to the benefits, I was under the impression that it would still be 50/50, but that company with pitch in for half of our 50. Yesterday I was told that company will only contribute their share for STD only. Can anyone confirm this? If so, we haven't made any gains in the benefits aspect...

A friendly reminder to Jazz Pilots
The roadshow starts tonight in YVR and will work its way west. Just a reminder that AvCanada is not the place to discuss the roadshows or what was said in them, or the details of our TA, as this is a public forum. After the vote has been tabulated, then sure let's discuss it here. Until the vote is ...

Re: Jazz pilots contract?

Re: Jazz pilots contract?
This might honestly call for the biggest grass-roots movement this Canadian aviation industry has ever seen.
If the Jazz pilots don't have the right to strike, no pilots have the right to strike in this country.

Excellent! Never even thought about that angle.
We do carry a lot of parliamentarians to many obscure places in Canada.
Legislate us back! Do it!
Let's see who's in the driver's seat.

Re: Jazz pilots contract?
No one is arguing that the plug needs to be pulled! The MEC will do it when the time is right for them, not the company.
Until then... Act as safely and professionally as you can on the line; be within the CARs, COM, AOM, and your current [expired] contract.

Woah, settle down up there. Negotiations will resume in YOW tomorrow, we all know that now. Just give the Negotiations Committee your full support at this time. Re: Jazz pilots contract?
I agree putting them in the flight deck is pushing it (someone must have got the idea from the Air Canada pilots writing under each map holder light in the old CRJ-100s). But, I must admit I did get a kick out of whoever it was that put the "Career Contract - We Are Not Asking" sticker, two of them ...

The solidarity amongst the pilots in this company we call Jazz is just incredible. I've been in every crew room in this country recently, and everyone is on the same page. It's also really awesome to see all of the pilots wearing their ALPA lanyards in a show of solidarity to management. Also, fello...

Re: Has anyone got the call??
There's no way the company would say what spots are open in the interview. They have never done that, and they probably never will; it's a unionized company with strict bidding protocol to follow according to the ALPA Jazz collective agreement. This isn't a bush operation where management just decid...
