Re: More scare mongering

Uhhhhh yea.... I guess they missed the memo about unscreened pax flying directly into the major airports?

On second thought... relocating CATSA to Rankin Inlet might not be a bad idea... I know several who don't seem very busy at their current location

Isn't that the general premise of health insurance?

Re: Negativity, Sourness and General Douchebagery

If I had just stumbled on this forum today, quite frankly I would be hesitant to start posting. I would generally agree that newbies who are asking questions tend to get jumped on. Even experienced posters throwing insults back and forth is a bit juvenile. I've been around here long enough to know t...

Re: Calgary Police Chopper

I like how they worded this: Last month, one of the Calgary police's two helicopters came within 60 metres vertically and 1.8 kilometres laterally of a Beech King Air 200 owned by North Cariboo Air Sooooo basically same altitude, 1.8km apart? Keith Johnson, safety program manager with the Airborne L...

Re: I'm glad you can't fly

I love the fact the I live in a country where you can expess your displeasure at being unable to fly in less than 0.1% of all available airspace . Unfortunately the airport is pretty hard to move. It happens to be in that 0.1% and it was here first. I love the Olyimpics and if it means GA can't fly...

Re: Olympic Protesters...Why?

Must be a tough situation to deal with... the police have to act very carefully because the of the dynamic nature of an unpredictable crowd. If they try advance aggressively to arrest people it might worsen the situation, yet if they stand back too long it looks like they're just letting it happen. ...

Complain to the IOC and IIHF, not Canada. Until they remove goal differential and goals scored from the criteria to decide rankings coming out of the pools, and decide they with tie-breaking games instead, it makes no sense for the teams to hold back. +1 Although I do agree that the score must be s...

Good advice from the above posters. If you have the Aerocourse book and you've done it all, you will do well. The INRAT was one of the easier written exams in my experience. Standard exam advice: don't stress too much about it, get a good sleep the night before, have a solid breakfast and RTFQ squar...

Normally I don't post about this kind of stuff... but this has me really ticked off... Number 1... After causing an obviously very serious crash, he leaves the scene to walk his kids home? Re: PPL Flight Test Question

I'm pretty sure that air canada captains pull out a checklist before flying the airplane.... I pull out the checklist before I step foot in the aircarft? Why, because at my FTU it is part of the required documents... things you must have to fly.. So what do you teach your students? Not to check if ...

my instructor hammered that into me since lesson one. Do the checklist and then check the fuckin thing.. If I didn't check the checklist, I got punished. (spanked to be precise) I'm not saying it's right or wrong... but clearly you were left with the impression that the checklist was an essential p...

Re: Southwest's "eco-friendly plane"

I think my comments were taken a little out of context. I was mostly being sarcastic with my tree huggers comment. Just trying to lighten the mood around here. (I'm really trying, STL) The airlines have a desire to be seen as being more "green" and I think thats probably one of the goals of this SWA...

I'm not a doctor, nor do I know enough to speak intelligently about something like the influenza virus. But some people seem to be asking questions that are logically answered with a google search. Q3. Is H1N1 Flu Virus contagious? How does it spread between people? Yes, this virus is contagious. Si...

In regards to the CVR, I'm guessing the last 30 minutes of the flight were after they realized their mistake, and were headed back to the airport/landing/taxiing in.

Interesting thread so far. Quick question. When you run-of-the-mill 172 is certified for -1.52 G's (normal category) how does this effect the same systems you've been discussing? You've still got a gravity fed, carburettor equipped engine. Obviously it doesn't have an inverted oil kit installed. If ...

Re: Flying from YYJ to YPK

Don't think you need to call YVR code. YYJ clearance delivery/ground should be able to give you a unique code. Just tell them you're on a VFR flight plan to YPK. Have a look at the transit routes in the CFS. You'll be heading through class C, first YYJ then YVR terminal. They will hand you off to th...
