Re: Overseas Flying

Stick it out here, get your first job, and some experience, and then go overseas when you have something to offer. Why would the Euros/Aussies/Wherevers give you your first job over a local kid who knows the language and the area, and isn't going to f@@k off back to Canada as soon as he's gained som...

Re: The PM needs a new ride

Interesting, that....how does a jet that size just move forward despite "the chocks being in place and the parking brake on." Or did someone f@@k up, and now they're arse covering? Also, despite cries from various quarters about the 'MSM' and their 'left-wing bias', you'll note the bias in linking t...

Re: Operating different machines.

Why should we care what the cognitive demands are (or aren't) of driving a truck or bus? We're pilots. If we want to drive a big vehicle, then quit flying and go and do so; conversely, quit driving a bus, and take some flying lessons.

The Juice is back!

BAck to your old gig in the flatlands?

In my previous gig on a Cl415, I used Bose A20s - no complaints there even after 2 four hour sessions.
Now, I’m on a light business jet, and most often use a set of Lightspeed Zulus.

Of course, YMMV.

Hmm, Seneca, hey?

So an RJ or Q will be the first plane that the actually retract the gear on?! And what happens when they get a xwind greater than 10 knots?

Re: Perimeter

Can’t speak to the interview, but for the sim eval, I’d imagine that you’d get (with some small variation) the standard two approaches and a hold, with an engine failure in the missed off one approach, and a single engined landing for the other.

At this rate, I don't expect to hit mainline until I am at least 35. Ohh, noes! In the not-too-far-ago past, I ran into my initial PPL flight instructor in the concourse in YVR. He'd been at JAzz for ~5years at that point, and was looking at about the same before an upgrade, let alone a shot at mai...

Re: Airman vs. Airperson Discussion/Poll

Just for the record, I wasn't the censor! I suspect that the originator of the term "Airman" didn't intend to imply anything with the suffix ~man - it was simply common usage at the time. Also, as there have been women involved with aviation since pretty much the get-go, I'm sure that they were quit...

So I was thinking about this while I was on a layover at a smaller airport yesterday. I'm not subject to the CATSA rigmarole at my present position, so we parked on the ramp, and marched through the locking gate in the fence next to the FSS, and then around the front of the terminal and through the ...

Wow, some touchy people in here!

I read the query as beiing more out of interest, along the lines of: "do regular crews bid 'election special' for a three day pairing," rather than: " is pilot X going to be staying in room y at the CY__ Holiday Inn on Sunday October 17th?"

Is WB FO a lousy job? Or are you at the botl, and have a crappy schedule? Why would it be so bad on flat pay? Four years from now you and your peers will go to formula, and everyone's equal again, no?
