Re: First RCAF C-295 makes Maiden Flight

If I was in need of SAR, I wouldn't want that 295 coming for me. It's tiny, has no payload, needs multiple fuel stops to get anywhere, is too slow, has no loiter time. The SAR Techs can't even stand up inside it. But, we can all sleep well at night knowing that the regional industrial benefits were...

Re: Jazz or Sunwing ?

History has shown, every pilot group no matter what association or union or company, has always "effed" over those that come behind them. There is no solidarity in this industry... Best advise I ever heard was to run your career like a business, cause nobody else is looking out for you and yes I am ...

From my understanding, the employees of another Chorus owned company have also been affected by this ESOP reduction. Ripple effect.

Early 70's in the high arctic (especially YRB) was very busy in part due to a lot of oil exploration in the area.

One thing about retention bonuses is they tend to be a temporary measure and can be ended rather quickly where as wages increases are much harder to take away once implemented.

Seems AC's hiring practices are a type of "whipsawing" between the pilots at the connectors vs OTS (non formal entity).

Re: Meet Swoop - WestJet's ultra-low-cost carrier has a name, a home and a purpose

Well this is indeed bothersome that Canadian pilots are becoming poverty level to the rest of the world. I'd be curious to see a list of what the mean pilot income would rank vs the globe. Because time and time again pilots in this country (no matter the airline) have proven themselves to be cannib...

Did the head hunter outfit recruiting for (I assume Jetstar NZ) recently put out an ad for screenings this September in Vancouver ? Is there a pilot shortage down under or a "pay" shortage like here ?

Roughly 90k/yr with the opportunity to move up to their mainline fleet...wonder what the cost of living is like down there ?? Might be not a bad gig considering the wawcon at the regionals here...or compare it to what Maldivian Airlines is offering for Dash 8 cpts :vom:

If Jazz can still afford to dole out PFO's, then they can't be hurting too badly for qualified candidates.

Wasn't YRT paved when it became an FOL for the CF 18s ? How about first expanding the ramps at some northern airports...things can get tight when everyone is waiting to park at the fuel cabinets and/or having overlapping sked times... And regarding paved arctic runways, look at Thule Greenland....th...

Qualified as per CARs minimums (Commercial, Group 1, and IATRA)? Or qualified as per Jazz hiring practices? Interesting choice going with Wasaya...wonder if this has anything to do with them having leased or purchased ex-Chorus Dash 8's recently ? Also Voyageur Airways is Jazz's sister company (also owned by Chorus) yet no college deal there ?

Dead Heading

It would be an interesting comparison about how many hours a month does your company have you DH and do you get credit or $$ for it?
