Re: Hiring 2025

CDN North is losing their daily YUL-YVP 737 sked to Air Inuit in October (part of EIC purchase deal) so there probably won't be any outside hiring onto the 737 for a while.

Re: Canadian North Sold to EIC

Air Inuit picked up 3 B 737-800s about 1.5 years ago to replace their 737-200s, one 800, (freighter) has been operating their YUL-YVP freight run since last summer...the other 2 -800s are (apparently) being converted to a combi configuration and may be online later this year. CDN North has a 737-700...

Given the staffing issues at Jazz, how many tails in the fleet are "parked" at any one time... Anyone have an idea?

Re: Negotiations

Rudder, in your opinion, what is AC/Jazz management's end goal by holding out on wage increases to attract/keep pilot's ? Is the current bleeding of staff, a management plan to purposely "shrink" Jazz down to the 80 tails earlier and repatriate more flying to AC, because their inaction to fixing the...

Re: New Hiring Minimums

Someone likened it to a game of chicken. AC management is the big old angry Moose, who is so used to being the one to win and bulldoze.. Unfortunately the industry and pilot groups are actually a speeding freight train. Watch as more wild, bizarre and foolish tactics are used to manipulate the situ...

Re: Ground School Invites

Totally honest question, with most airlines looking for pilots why would someone pick Flair? Seems like the highest risk option out there besides maybe Jetlines. I'm guessing high risk, high reward. Looks at the first pilots at WS, everybody thought they were idiots and scabs at the time... I remem...

Re: Negotiations

Jazz is probably looking to give just enough to keep pilots on the hook till 2025 (isn't that when they can reduce the size the fleet to 80 tails..hence need for less crews?)

Re: How backed up is hiring???

I'm starting to wonder if the majority of the airline company's in Canada are going to try and wait out the current shortage, hoping that a recession in '23 will buy them time and not have to deal with the wage question.

Re: New hire bids

Wonder if the no-shows looked at the "B" pay scale and figured that and a 2% pay raise is not worth it. It begs the question - how long can you keep offering the lowest starting pay in the 705 sector and expect to attract qualified candidates? If, as you guys are mentioning is really happening then...

Re: US ULCC

Not only is the WAWCON at most Canadian airlines abysmal compared to US industry wages (even before the glory years pre-COVID), but what will amplify a shortage of industry workers going forward (ie. pilots/AME's/Flt Attn./ground staff etc) is the current real rate of inflation. As it stands now mos...

Re: Delta to drop degree requirement, why won't it happen here?

DL had no choice in dropping the degree requirement due to multilateral flow agreement reached for Endeavor pilots (Delta Connection). AA flow also straight seniority/qualification. No degree. Basically these carriers have agreed to hire E175/CRJ CA from their regionals on a seniority basis (from t...
