Re: Delta now hiring Air Canada pilots
I believe the 1000 hr requirement is to act as PIC in part 121 , but it doesn’t have to be PIC in 121. Time can be in 121, 135, and possibly even 91K. Apparently Skywest has a charter department that operates part 135…or so I’ve heard. Yeah but you can't be a direct entry captain at Skywest without...

Re: Speed limit order within 10 NM
Here is a snapshot of some of the data ADSB will transmit. Indicated airspeed seems to shows in Canada but not the US for Version 2. I doubt the controllers have access to this picture real time but that is the data available to TC/NavCan/Public etc.

Re: Approach ban / RVR
I am looking for a clear explanation on how to interpret Canadian approach ban regulations.... We'd all love a clear explanation of it, but alas, this is Transport Canada's house/ their rules, so what we're left with is this F'n garbage to sort through. They are set to be changed sometime probably ...

Re: Canada/USA cell phone plan
I've been paying around $55/mth since 2013. Was Freedom Mobile to start (not great service but got better) when Shaw bought them out now you can get the same deal on Shaw Mobile which now includes Mexico. Otherwise do the esim thing and get a US number. To be fair this is the price with Home interne...

Re: COVID-19 Testing to the US
Antigen is fine for entry to the US...mine was $90 and ready in 15min. RT-PCR for return trip was ready in 20min. Some places can't get results for minimum 72+hrs right now due to high demand so pays to shop around. Bring some ID/License as some facilities will give discounts to crew. Used this for ...

My last flight department used Jetplan, but had a dedicated dispatchers doing international flight planning for large aircraft. Had separate app for the W&B and they printed the performance data from APG. It worked and got the job done, nothing fancy. I would definitely say ARINC is the goto. Last u...

I'll give you a hint....find it in.....605.XX It took about 30 seconds to google search it.
But keep in mind you COM or MPM may have a specific procedure for your company that may be more restrictive than the CARs. Take a look there too.

You can take a look at this. https://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/standards/commerce-manuals-guidance700-menu-1872.htm Basically you are bound by the most restrictive portion on the CARs. If you do additional flight time such as private flying or training it counts towards the CARs 700 duty time r...

Once forgot my laptop in an unpressurized forward cargo compartment of a small business jet. Did a flight at 45,000........it didn't like that at all. Hard drive (Disk Type) failed, was able to recover most data from it. Put in new SSD and kept it in the main cabin from then on. The only specs you w...

STL, Quick question on ISO for a newbie. What are your preferences on ISO settings. I'm running an Xti and have been normally leaving it on 1600(max). I have been trying different ISO settings and I'm trying to start running at a lower setting. I do enjoy getting most of my prints blown up (I use Co...
