Re: A Chinese company bought Glasair.

http://www.airventure.org/news/2012/120721_glasair.html Some of the EAA members sound a bit disgruntled about it in the comments. And last year, Cirrus (which started as a kit aircraft company) was sold to China Aviation Industry General Aircraft (CAIGA), a subsidiary of Aviation Industry Corporati...

Re: Hiring Instructors

if you are willing to fly anything, anywhere, anytime (safely!) You will have a very interesting career! It's not for everyone, though. Lots of people show interest but few are up for the moment. So basically what you are saying is that until you get to become this specialized flight instructor me ...

Re: Instructing on my own aircraft

What are the rules regarding instructing students on my own aircraft? Can I train students on my A/C ... I could breakeven on flying costs, win-win for everyone if its legal. Unfortunately, the short answer is no; you cannot. Reference: CAR 406.03 (2)(b)(iii) http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/r...

If I had my AME license here is how I would do things... 1) Buy a hanger with a decent runway. 2) Create repair boxes which have a full tool set. These repair boxes with tools are accounted and rented for by the day. 3) Offer courses in repairing and maintaining your own plane. 4) Offer mailing ser...

I totally agree with you. The supply of pilots in Canada already exceed the demand. That may be the case for entry level jobs... However, there is a shortage of qualified pilots for operators who need experienced crews... ... Qualified foreign pilots with expirience and the ability to find work her...

Re: Starting my training again

Write the PSTAR to regain your student pilot permit Although studying the material for the PSTAR would be a very good idea for someone in this situation, I might point out that a PSTAR actually never expires. See CAR 421.19(2)(d)(iii). From an Authorized Person standpoint, all he really needs to do...

Heres my story: 6 years ago I was training for my PPL and I loved to fly, thats all I wanted to do. In fact I could fly a whole lot better than I could learn the ground school element. I passed my inflight test no problem but failed my writen test in 2 areas. I got very discuraged and stopped flyin...

Re: Any chance for a job for a Belgian pilot ?

Enough with foreign pilots! I don't give a damn of what people may say after I post this! Its hard enough for us Canadian pilots to get a break in the industry with all the competition there is out there! All we need is an additional group of individuals that will harden the process. Its already be...

I can't set or hold a heading to a half a degree, so that's a wash, and I had 2 knots of error on 101 which is two percent so that's a score of 100% and 98% for a combined score of 99% accuracy  Learning how to precisely estimate is a very valuable skill for a pilot. Re: drift formula

You're travelling north at 120 knots TAS and the wind is 25 knots out of the northwest. You can use the CFS chart or either remember that the sin and cos of 45 degrees is 0.7 so the headwind component is (25 x .7) = 17 knots and the crosswind component is also 17 knots. Your groundspeed is therefor...

There is a nice pilot shop at Shoreham, a Transair pilot shop if I remember correctly.

A Tornado fighter was on display, near the building. It was there a few years ago.
